Pamela Anderson Reveals Why She Decided to Leave Hollywood for Canada
Pamela Anderson traded the bright lights for a green thumb.
The 57-year-old shared how she was deep into her latest healthy hobby, when she made the decision to return to Hollywood for The Last Showgirl.
“I was in my garden at home on Vancouver Island, making pickles,” the Baywatch alum told Mikey Madison during their conversation on Variety’s Actors on Actors Dec. 17.
“Really! Pickles. Pickles. I’m a big pickle maker and jam. I just love my garden. I’m obsessed.”
As she explained, leaving behind Hollywood for her hometown of Ladysmith, British Columbia allowed the TV starlet to start fresh before taking the role.
“I grow my own cucumbers, I grow my own veggies I have a big rose garden,” she said. “I went home to remember who I was. I had just started getting sick of playing all these characters in my personal life. That’s when I started taking the makeup off and getting my hands dirty.”
And because Pamela was so busy in her garden and tuned out from the world of showbusiness, director Gia Coppola had enlisted the help of Pamela and her ex, Tommy Lee’s son Brandon Lee.
“I didn’t really have representation at the time, but Gia tried to find me through an old agent, and he passed on the movie,” she explained. “Gia didn’t take no for an answer; she found my son Brandon, and Brandon brought me the script, and I read it on my little vegetable farm. I knew the whole movie like a play before I got to Las Vegas.”

The former Playboy model has been open about her move from Los Angeles to British Columbia, which took place in 2020. In October, the Barb Wire actress looked back on her decision.
"I guess [it was] a homecoming, you could say," Pamela told Women's Wear Daily in an interview published Oct. 29, "to really kind of look at my life and remember who I was—not what other people were telling me I was. I didn't want anything that had happened to me define me. I wanted what I do to define me."
