Palworld Feybreak Lets You Play This Popular Pokémon Challenge

1 week ago 5

Palworld's Feybreak update offers a lot more than new content; it lets you face one of the most popular challenges in the Pokémon community: Nuzlocke. The addition of a hardcore mode, where both players and their Pals can die permanently, lets players take on a whole new way of playing. The standard hardcore mode can feel too easy, making Pals seem almost invincible because they can always come back. The same can be said for the respawning player.

However, players can tweak the difficulty settings to create a harder and more balanced experience that captures the essence of a Nuzlocke. This challenge doesn't just emphasize survival but also strategic planning. It also makes the connections players form with their Pals a lot more real. It can make their deaths also feel more painful. While Palworld doesn’t have a specific Nuzlocke mode, the Feybreak update gives players the tools to enjoy the challenge with a few edits and adjustments. This is the best way to play the game since the Meowmere sword was announced.

Palworld Feybreak Lets Players Nuzlocke With Hardcore Mode

Nuzlockes Are A Lot of Fun

Palworld's Feybreak update brings fresh challenges for players looking for more than just a typical adventure. The main feature of this update is a new hardcore mode, which introduces permanent death for both the player and their Pals. This adds a whole new level of difficulty and allows for a gameplay style similar to the Nuzlocke challenge from the Pokémon series. The big difference is that Palworld is a lot more mature and realistic, making it more fun.

Palworld Makes Big Change To Gameplay, Possibly Because Of Nintendo Lawsuit

Palworld’s removal of a gameplay feature sparked speculation about its lawsuit with Nintendo, with some players concerned about changes to the game.

Players in Palworld fight in action-packed 3D battles instead of turn-based combat, making the Nuzlocke challenge feel more intense and interactive. This also means that fights can't be escaped with a simple press of a button. Players have to actively escape a battle and hope not to enter another, which could lead to an early game over. Instead of making a grand strategy over time, players have to think on their feet and hope their Pals make the right decisions, unlike the turn-based Pokémon games.

This adjustment requires players to think strategically about their team setups. Overall, it makes every defeat feel significant, turning the loss of a Pal into a serious setback that requires players to adapt. There are some issues with how to play, but the overall idea is similar and can still feel very challenging for players.

The Rules Are Only Slightly Altered and Require Custom Settings

How To Do A Nuzlocke In Palworld

To play a Nuzlocke in Palworld Feybreak, players have to adjust the rules of the game. There are plenty of reasons players cannot play a Nuzlocke for Palworld like they would in Pokémon. Pokémon is a linear game where players pretty much decide when and where to fight enemy Pokémon. The game is set up to be done a certain way every single time, whereas Palworld is a living, breathing world that will find the player when necessary, and multiple Pals are required to run a base.

There's also the fact Pokémon makes it pretty easy to catch monsters, and Palworld does not. So things like that are why rules need to change. Below is a list of all the rules for a Nuzlocke in Palworld that are different from Pokémon. Keep in mind that, like any Nuzlocke, you can change the rules for your own games.

  • You can catch any Pals you see, not just the first one in each area.
  • You cannot set up bases near cliffs or in areas where Pals cannot raid your village.
  • You cannot have multiple of the same Pal on a fight team.
  • You cannot switch out Pals from workers to the fight team; it's one or the other permanently.
  • You cannot hide your workers in storage when a raid happens at your base.
  • You may sell Pals, but you cannot buy any.

Pals have too much health in the default hardcore mode, and it feels like they're bullet sponges, which is unfair overall. The best way to do a Nuzlocke is to adjust the settings so it's fair. Every setting should be at one except for the Meteroite drop (set to 180) and egg timer (set to 2). The other settings, like the number of items dropped, are based on your computer speed.

Players Can Make It Harder With a Randomizer

How To Make Palworld Harder

The Palworld Feybreak update offers customizable difficulty settings, which means players can adjust their Nuzlocke experience to their liking. For those looking for an even bigger challenge, the game does not include a randomizer that changes where Pals appear in the game. This adds an element of surprise to every encounter but removes a bit of the immersion since Pals tend to be in areas where they make sense normally.

Palworld Devs Share Unexpected Nintendo Lawsuit Info, The Pokémon Company Is Seeking Over 5 million Yen

The Palworld developers at Pocketpair have shed a bit more light on the ongoing copyright lawsuit with The Pokémon Company, and it's interesting.

By manually altering spawn locations, players have to think on their feet and adapt their strategies instead of relying on a pre-planned team. This unpredictability raises the difficulty and challenges players' critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they encounter unplanned obstacles. It can make it more fun overall for those bored with seeing the same Pals in the same places.

Palworld Feybreak Needs a Dedicated Setting for a Nuzlocke Challenge

Palworld Should Add A Nuzlocke Mode

While players can adjust their own settings thanks to the Palworld Feybreak update, that doesn't mean the mode is completely great. A dedicated mode or setting for a Nuzlocke would be great. This way, players can have their own fun but also play in a way they feel a community plays as well.

While it's not necessary for a great game, it's a way for the developers to give Palworld players more content without needing to make a whole update like the Feybreak update. While Nintendo considers Nuzlocke to be a hack (according to former PR employees), Pocketpair can show that they understand players and even partake in the fun.
