If you often find your pantry lacking in the snack department, or you're tired of munching on the same old snacks, a snack subscription box can solve both dilemmas. They also make great gifts. Catering to snacks from different countries or to specific dietary restrictions and preferences, these companies will regularly send a curated box filled with tasty treats right to your door, so you can save time and effort on your next grocery store trip. It's like a meal delivery service, but just for snacks.

To find the best snack box subscriptions, CNET editors have been putting popular companies to the test over the years. After taking taste, flavor profile, price, dietary needs and variety into account, these are the snack subscriptions that have won us over time and time again.
What is the best overall snack box subcription?
Bokksu is our favorite snack box overall because it consistently delivers thoughtfully curated snacks from family-run businesses in Japan. It offers a perfect balance of sweet and savory snacks, all delicious. Whether you're treating yourself or a loved one to a subscription or purchasing a single box or a few snacks as a gift, you can't go wrong with Bokksu.
Best snack box subscriptions of 2026
After retesting Bokksu in 2026, it has remained CNET’s best snack box overall, and for good reason. Since 2016, Bokksu has been delivering tasty themed snack boxes straight from Japan every one, three, six or 12 months. Each comes with over 20 Japanese sweet and savory snacks and a tea from family-run businesses, some of which are exclusive to Bokksu, and a culture guide detailing where each snack is from and allergen info.
New subscribers receive the Seasons of Japan box first, which is the one I tested and loved. Specific snacks are thoughtfully selected for fall, winter, spring and summer, and I found all of them delicious. The culture guide beautifully details everything you need to know with stunning visuals: where the snacks come from on a map, common allergens, flavor profiles, detailed descriptions and whether they’re vegetarian. If your box received a replacement, you’ll also be sent a note explaining it.
If you’d like to purchase individual snacks or a snack box without a subscription, you can do so through the Bokksu Boutique or the brand's own line, Bokksu Originals. Since subscriptions start at $33 per month and won’t be in everyone's budget, it’s nice that you can opt for a single box or a few snacks without committing.
Best snacks: Suppa mucho plum potato sticks for summer, the Yokohama butter sandwich cookie made with rich buttercream for winter and the nutty kinako azuki crunch with roasted soybean powder for autumn.

Tokyo Treat is another service that collects snacks, cookies and candy from Japan, which, after several rounds of testing, I declare the snack capital of the world. Tokyo Treat has some overlap with Bokksu, but treats are slightly more geared toward kids, with classic salty or strawberry-flavored snacks and fewer laced with "adult flavors," such as nori (seaweed), coffee or green tea.
Best snacks: Sakusaku Panda strawberry cookies, Yaokin Soba-Meshi rice noodle snacks

Healthy snacks? It's a thing, and Fit Snack has the idea down to a science. For interesting protein bars, lean beef jerky, nutritious shakes and other snackables without the sugar and salt, Fit Snack is the best pick for healthy snacking. Fit Snack can be bought as a subscription or a one-time send to yourself or someone on your gift list. Boxes start at $28 and include snacks from popular health food brands such as Rind, Peeled and Solely.
Best snacks: Chops beef jerky, Beanitos black bean chips and Bear Naked granola

We tested the lesser-known brand HealthyMe Living in 2026 and were impressed with its selection of tasty treats that are also good for you. The company was founded by certified health coach Christy Venter, and my box included 10 snacks. Some, like the fiery cheddar fries from Pip's Heirloom Snacks, satisfied cravings, while others tasted a little too... healthy for my liking. But overall, I was impressed with the selection and the nutrition values, and I loved that some were sweet while others were savory or spicy.
You can purchase one box at a time or sign up for a subscription of three, six or 12 boxes for a discount. If you opt for a subscription, you can decide at checkout whether to have it automatically renew, so you don't have to worry about sneaky renewal charges in the future. Besides those choices, everything else regarding your box will remain a mystery until it shows up on your doorstep.
Best snacks: Pip's Heirloom Snacks Fiery Cheddar Fries and Brookside Pomegranate Dark Chocolate

With Universal Yums, you'll get tasty snacks from around the world, but of a slightly higher pedigree (similar to Bokksu), from sweet snacks to savory snack picks. Think good salted French chocolate, purple yam shortbread and Turkish-spiced Bagarati cracker chips. It also happens to be CNET editor Bridget Carey's top snack box pick.
Universal Yums is one of the most budget-friendly, with snack subscriptions containing five to seven snacks starting at less than $20 per month.
Best snacks: Black truffle potato chips, handmade baklava and garlic plantain chips

MunchPak: MunchPak featured some of the best snacks from around the world, including countries like Brazil, France, Canada, Greece and Japan. However, the company is no longer in business.
Carnivore Club: If you're into salty cured meats, jerkies and charcuterie, Carnivore Club was the way to go, but the brand no longer offers a snack box.
Candy Club: Candy Club used to have a subscription for a snack box of its own candies, but this offering is no longer available.
SnackNation: Startingat $19 per month, SnackBox is a great snack box subscription for offices, but we wouldn't say it's right for the average person looking for a box for their household. That's why it didn't make our current list.
Bokksu offers a great balance of savory and sweet snacks from Japan.

Over the years, CNET editors have tested popular snack box subscriptions multiple times to ensure that every box tastes great, offers quality snacks, has the right balance of different brands and flavors and is within a reasonable price range. We've then compiled our thoughts to pick the best of the best.
Flavor profile: Start by thinking about the snacks you enjoy most. Some snack boxes are geared more toward those with a sweet tooth, while others are for people who prefer the savory side of life. Then there are boxes that offer a nice balance of both for different tastes, making them ideal if you plan to share your snacks with others.

Anna Gragert/CNETPrice: If you're opting for a snack box subscription, note that you will be charged based on your plan, so ensure it's within your budget for the chosen length of time. To bring the cost down, you might want to consider a longer subscription, as some companies offer discounts when you commit for several months. Remember to factor in shipping costs.
Variety: Certain snack box companies offer brands from a specific country or across the globe, like Bokksu or Universal Yums. Others focus on snacks around their own brand or offer several name brands. If you're looking for tried-and-true snack favorites, you may be better off with a company that offers familiar brands. However, if you want to try new snacks, opt for a company that sources them from another country.
The single box from HealthyMe Living came with 10 snacks.
Corin Cesaric-Epple/CNETDietary needs: If you have dietary restrictions or food allergies, ensure your chosen snack box subscription accommodates them. If you want healthier snacks, you should opt for a brand with that focus, such as HealthyMe Living or Fit Snack.
Universal Yum has snack box subscriptions that start at $17 per month. That makes it the most affordable snack subscription of the options we evaluated. Note that some snack boxes offer a discount for the first order, which may lead to higher prices for the next delivery.
There are loads of snack delivery operations in 2026, many with a niche or a specialty, curating mailings of munchies in a specific category. There are even healthy snack boxes that offer vegan snacks and keto snacks made with nutritious ingredients (such as dried fruit, jerky and nut butter) for health-conscious snackers or people with dietary restrictions.
You can have a food box delivered through a monthly subscription option or get a one-time order for a specific tasty snack, should you prefer. It all comes down to your snack preferences, appetite and budget.
Fit Snack is a health snack subscription box curated by a nutritionist and featuring GMO-free, high-protein, low-sugar, gluten-free and vegan snacks. As for HealthyMe Living, it was created by a certified health coach to offer non-GMO, organic, gluten-free snacks with no trans fat and no artificial ingredients. We recommend both if you want a healthy snack subscription box.
