He stated, "Yeah, there was an interesting conversation about Midnight Sons. It's tonally very important because we're playing with real stuff [DID] in that one. It's expressing something very real, challenging, and difficult, so for me, I have a lot of respect for that. I feel like if you're going to do it, you have to take it really seriously, even though it's a crazy comic book. That's what it's trying to do. It's doing both of those things at once."
While staying coy about Midnight Son's current status, Isaac had a reaction to the major fan-casting of Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider, who is another member of the team in the lore. The Star Wars veteran reacted to the idea of the Barbie star as the Spirit of Vengeance, saying, "Make it happen, fellas." This comes after Gosling's comments about how it has been "complicated" to work that out, as Ghost Rider is someone he really wants to play for Marvel Studios.
While Moon Knight season 2 has yet to go forward, Isaac's show was one of the projects made before the big Marvel Television restructure, as they are now attempting to greenlight series that can run for multiple seasons, with a more traditional TV format. Another reason why Moon Knight has yet to get a formal update is that Marvel Studios is currently focusing on finishing its remaining Phase 6 projects and bringing The Multiverse Saga to an end.
Many heroes in the MCU are perfect for Midnight Sons, and having Moon Knight be part of the popular team would allow him to have a larger role within the franchise beyond his own TV show. The supernatural ensemble would also solve another major troubling project for Marvel Studios, which is Mahershala Ali's Blade reboot, which has been stuck in development hell for several years.
Following Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, Phase 7 would be a more fitting time to explore Midnight Sons, especially when the MCU timeline has gone through its reset. Isaac also made it clear in the same interview that he loved what the Moon Knight series did for the franchise, saying, "There was something I really liked about Mohamed Diab. I loved the movie he had made before, Cairo 6,7,8. It's an incredible movie. I just thought, 'Wow, this guy's got a really interesting point of view.' I had never heard of Moon Knight before. But I loved what it was trying to do, and I saw an opportunity."
Moon Knight season 1 is available for streaming on Disney+, as well as on Blu-ray/DVD.
