One Piece season 3 is just around the corner, with a big new storyline.

Netflix has unveiled a new teaser trailer for One Piece season 3, confirming it will be subtitled The Battle of Alabasta. The logo appears in front of a desert, teasing the location of the Alabasta Kingdom. It also confirms season 3 will bring the Alabasta Arc to live-action. The teaser ends by revealing the live-action series will be coming back in 2027. Check out the full teaser below:

One Piece season 2 ended by pulling from the pages of the Drum Island Arc, introducing Tony Tony Chopper and offering cryptic revelations about Luffy's connection to Gol D. Roger. This marks an important milestone in the series, as it's the arc just before the Alabasta Arc, which, in turn, is both the final and longest arc of the Alabasta Saga.

If the show continues to faithfully adapt the manga, then season 3 will be entirely focused on Luffy and the crew's journey to the desert kingdom in hopes of saving it from Baroque Works and its leader, Crocodile. This will include Vivi Nefartari returning to her homeland, in hopes of quelling tensions before an all-out war breaks out.

A handful of One Piece characters have also been confirmed to debut in season 3, showing up right around the same time they do in the manga and anime. This includes Bon Clay (Cole Escola), Portgas D. Ace (Xolo Maridueña), Mr. 1 (Awdo Awdo), and Miss Doublefinger (Daisy Head), all of whom will play important roles in episodes to come.

Season 3 will also be adapting the longest arc in the story thus far, expected to turn a whopping 63 manga chapters into eight episodes. This makes up more than half the chapters from the Alabasta Saga as a whole, showcasing just how important and massive this next chapter of the Straw Hats' journey is going to be.

The Netflix series has seen plenty of success following the release of its newest batch of episodes. One Piece season 2 reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, with critics referring to it as one of the best American live-action anime adaptations of all time. It also earned massive viewership on Netflix, becoming an instant global success in the process.
