Between Season 2 of the Netflix live-action series and the main anime also returning with the Elbaph Arc, 2026 has already been off to a great start for One Piece. That said, one major disappointment was the lack of any real updates on the upcoming remake by Netflix and Wit Studio.
Beloved as One Piece may be, its original anime by Toei Animation, specifically its earliest arcs, are far from perfect and plagued by pacing issues and outdated animation. For this very reason, the Wit Studio One Piece remake has been a highly anticipated affair, and after years of endless teases and concept art, the wait is finally over, as the remake has finally gotten its biggest update yet.
Netflix and Wit Studio's One Piece Remake Sets Sail February 2027
In a new post on X today, Netflix has finally confirmed that the One Piece remake by Wit Studio, dubbed THE ONE PIECE, will be releasing in February 2027. Shockingly, the remake will only consist of 7 episodes in all, which will be dropped all at once, though the exact release date has yet to be revealed.
One Piece’s New Anime Drops Disappointing Update
Jump Festa 2026 turned out to be a major letdown for One Piece fans, especially those waiting for an update on the remake.
Along with finally setting its sights on a release date, the One Piece remake has also shared its first official poster, featuring a very familiar scene from Romance Dawn of a young Luffy with Shanks and his crew at Makino's bar.
