One Piece Might Have Already Revealed What Loki's Devil Fruit Is, & It's Terrifying

1 week ago 4

After the ending of the chaotic and beloved Egghead arc, the One Piece manga brought fans to a destination they had been waiting for years to explore: the Kingdom of Elbaph. The Land of the Giants has been one of the series’ most unique and intriguing locations, with new characters who are equally mysterious.

Among these enigmatic new cast members, the manga introduced a new villain who could spell disaster for the Straw Hats and their friend, Loki. One of the first details revealed to readers about the Accursed Prince is that he murdered his father to obtain the powers of a yet-named legendary Devil Fruit. Still, the series might have already hinted at Loki’s powers being related to a Norse Myth and a fearsome creature destined to initiate Ragnarök and end the world in Nordic culture.

Loki's Devil Fruit Could Be A Mythical Zoan

The Powers of Fenrir Might be Released Soon

In chapter #1130 of the One Piece manga, after being freed from their temporary imprisonment inside a fake town, Luffy and his friends began exploring the Kingdom of Elbaph. As they made their way through the snow mountains, the Straw Hat Captain noticed a rumbling near them and decided to investigate who could be causing it. This decision led him to a giant imprisoned by colossal chains. Luffy introduced himself as the man who will one day become King of the Pirates, making his new acquaintance laugh.

The mysterious giant introduced himself as the Sun God, Loki, destined to bring an end to the world. The prince of Elbaph is inspired by the Norse god of the same name, a deity known for being mischievous, deceitful, and often cruel. Despite not talking much in chapter #1130, One Piece’s version of Loki seems to share all of these traits. It is these similarities, as well as his promise to bring about the end of the world which strongly hints at the prince having the powers of Fenrir.

According to Norse Mythology, this gigantic wolf was a son of the trickster god, Loki, destined to battle against Odin during Ragnarök. In an attempt to prevent this from occurring, the other Aesir deities decided to chain Fenrir to a massive boulder with magical unbreakable chains. The fact that Loki is not only shown in such a similar manner but also reveals that he will destroy everything, makes it seem as if his Devil Fruit is one of the Mythical Zoan-types that grants him the abilities of the legendary wolf.

Loki's Liberation Might Trigger the End of the Series

A Version of Ragnarök Could Begin Soon

Loki could destroy everything if he is ever released, as stated by the Giant Pirates.

Although currently unable to escape his predicament, Prince Loki will likely escape at some point in the future. He is a highly anticipated character who was hinted at as being of major importance in One Piece’s story. If his Devil Fruit is indeed tied to the mythical Fenrir, his liberation could commence a cataclysmic event that could destroy the world. In Norse mythology, Ragnarök was more than just a battle between the Aesir deities and Loki’s children, it was an event that would destroy the nine realms into which the universe was divided.

Liberating the Accursed Prince from his chains might be what will initiate the final battle of the One Piece manga, the long-teased conflict among the major powers of the world that should bring about the end of Eiichiro Oda's beloved story. Loki could be an amazing ally for the pirates in their battle against the oppressive and cruel Celestial Dragons. From a narrative perspective, this would make perfect sense, as Fenris was also prophesized to bring the end of the gods, and the Celestial Dragons are seen as deities in the world of the series.

The Celestial Dragons in One Piece

The manga has also given many other indications that the story is heading in a similar direction, as proven by what occurs in the Norse myth once the world ends. After the final battle between Gods and Giants, the deities and mortals who survived are given a second chance at life in a new world born from the sea. In chapter #1113, Vegapunk revealed that the world of the series is fated to be overtaken by water. If the story follows the myth of Ragnarok, after defeating the World Government, a new world will emerge.

Prince Loki will undoubtedly be a major player in this last saga of One Piece, whether as an adversary or a rival for the Straw Hats. His legendary Devil Fruit will most likely be revealed during the current arc of the manga and will no doubt shock fans with its amazing abilities.
