Since its debut in 1997, One Piece has amassed an impressive list of achievements related to its longevity. Now, thanks to a superfan, the series is poised to add another feather to its cap as one of the longest-running anime series ever.
As revealed in a January 5, 2025, post on mega-streamer IShowSpeed’s @SpeedyHQ X account, the gaming, IRL, and social media super-influencer has received permission to live stream all 1,122 (and counting) episodes of the One Piece anime series. Since each episode of One Piece lasts about 25 minutes, if he proceeds with his plan, the stream would run for approximately 18 days straight without a break.
One Piece Superfan IShowSpeed Is Setting Up to Break Yet Another Record
If IShowSpeed's Plans Come To Fruition, One Piece's Lore Will Become Even Greater
It's almost impossible that a similar streaming undertaking has already been attempted - at least officially. To be sure, YouTube, Twitch, and Kick streamers risk bans, video takedowns, and demonetization for streaming copyrighted content without authorization. However, since he's already gotten permission, IShowSpeed’s plan is poised to become the longest continuous One Piece stream in history. Furthermore, with nearly 35 million subscribers, even if only a fraction of his audience tunes in for all or part of the stream, it could become one of the most-watched One Piece live streams ever.
One Piece is no stranger to longevity milestones. With nearly 1,100 chapters since its debut in July 1997, it is not only one of the longest-running manga series but also one of the manga with the most chapters published. Only a select few, such as Golgo 13 and Hajime no Ippo, have surpassed One Piece in chapter count. Additionally, ithe over 1,100 anime episodes since October 1999 make it one of the longest-running anime series and one of the anime with the highest episode counts.
One Piece Has Always Been Breaking Records, and There's No End to Its Success in Sight
It also holds the Guinness World Record for the most copies published for the same book series by a single author. Additionally, One Piece has been recognized as both the best-selling manga series and the best-selling comic book series in history. If IShowSpeed successfully completes his plan, his stream will further contribute to One Piece's legacy of excellence. This history of achievement likely explains why the decision-makers behind the One Piece franchise would grant IShowSpeed the green light for such a stream — it aligns perfectly with their well-earned, record-breaking mentality.
One Piece could not have found a better ambassador to stream its programming than IShowSpeed. He is a die-hard fan of the series. To be sure, on his stream, just before announcing his plans to broadcast a One Piece streaming marathon, he revealed that he recently paid $10,000 for a rare One Piece card featuring Luffy in his Gear Fifth form. Furthermore, he frequently discusses cosplays and posts his thoughts about One Piece, its characters, and the current storyline. In short, if IShowSpeed helps the franchise break the record, it would be fitting, as he is a truly worthy representative of the One Piece universe.

One Piece
Created by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece is a multimedia franchise that began as a manga series and follows the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates as led by Monkey D. Luffy. Luffy, an enthusiastic pirate with a thirst for adventure, is afflicted by a mysterious curse that gives him various powers he uses to protect himself and his friends. The manga eventually gave way to the anime series, with the two being some of history's longest-running anime and manga series. Along with over fifty video games made over the years, the series entered the live-action world with Netflix's 2023 adaptation.
