After another two-week break, One Piece is finally set to continue one of Elbaph's biggest reveals yet in chapter #1186. The recent chapters have taken readers deep into Brook's past, uncovering the heartbreaking connection between him and Gunko while answering questions that have been building since the arc began. With Oda's latest break now behind us, the story is finally ready to move forward.
Chapter #1185 ended on a shocking note as Gunko seemingly turned against her own father, King Leuven, in an attempt to stop the coming war. The chapter strongly hinted that Imu's mysterious Domi Reversi ability has been controlling her actions all along. Gunko's appearance also lines up with the earlier moment in the Elbaph arc when Imu possessed her, causing her to manifest demonic wings and horns. More importantly, the tragedy directly pays off the uncharacteristic anger Brook displayed during their tense reunion after decades apart.
With Brook's flashback now entering its final moments, chapter #1186 will likely bring the story back to the present, resuming the chaos unfolding in Elbaph.
One Piece Chapter #1186 Release Date and Time
Readers awaiting to see how Brook’s flashback concludes will not have to wait much longer, as One Piece #chapter 1186 is officially scheduled to release on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM EST. The chapter will be available to read for free through Manga Plus, Viz Media, and the Shonen Jump app. After Oda's recent run of breaks, the manga has finally settled back into its regular schedule, with the Elbaph arc continuing to pick up momentum.
Right now, everything points toward Oda setting Gunko up for a redemption arc. The previous chapters hinted that her memories from the Esperia Kingdom are slowly resurfacing, bringing out her true self. With her trapped inside Ragnir's unbreakable ice, which only Ragnir himself can melt, Imu would most likely have to leave her behind. If Gunko eventually breaks free from the shadowy ruler's control, she could also become the key to finally revealing why Imu has been abducting giant children, and what the World Government is up to.

Are you King of the Pirates — or lost at sea?
↻ SET SAIL AGAIN
Meanwhile, the King of the World may not have as much time as it first seemed. The Five Elders were visibly uneasy after Imu left Mary Geoise, and the ruler was even shown bleeding after the transformation, hinting that the form comes with some kind of limit. While Imu remains focused on defeating Loki, Killgram and Shommer continue carrying out the World Government's plan elsewhere on Elbaph, setting up several storylines that could collide once the flashback is over.
One Piece Brilliantly Uses The Elbaf Arc To Set Up Luffy’s Rivalry With Imu
As for Luffy, he was never going to stay out of the fight for long. Once he recovers after filling his stomach, the Straw Hat captain will almost certainly return to the battlefield alongside Loki to face Imu. Ever since awakening Gear 5 in Wano, Luffy has continued to grow stronger with every major battle, but Elbaph presents a challenge unlike anything he has faced before.
For the first time, Luffy is standing against one of the strongest characters in One Piece, Imu, the mysterious ruler who has been pulling the strings behind the World Government. As exciting as that fight is, it still feels too early for their final confrontation. Imu's current transformation already appears to be taking a toll, suggesting that this level of power cannot be maintained for very long outside Mary Geoise.
10 Highest Rated Anime On Crunchyroll (#1 Beats One Piece)
Despite tough competition from Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer, this recent breakout series is dominating the charts.
That is why this battle feels more like the beginning of a much bigger rivalry than its conclusion. By the time Luffy and Imu meet again, the Straw Hats captain will likely have reached the title he has chased since the beginning of One Piece: King of the Pirates. That would make their final clash carry even more weight than the one unfolding on Elbaph.
