It's been a difficult few years for Gal Gadot with her potential franchise-starter Heart of Stone not showing much promise, the presumed cancellation of her epic Cleopatra movie, and the end of her tenure as Wonder Woman. And these are only the professional setbacks; Gadot's politics have also remained hotly debated, while every March brings with it a social media anniversary celebration of her infamous "Imagine" video from the pandemic. Her first major role following the pandemic came in a big-budget murder mystery sequel to a hit 2017 movie. However, her performance attracted widespread ridicule on social media, the likes of which weren't seen again until she played the villain in last year's live-action Snow White.

Her 2022 movie also featured a star-studded ensemble including Emma Mackey, Annette Bening, Armie Hammer, Letitia Wright, Ali Fazal, and Russell Brand. Yes, we're talking The Social Network-levels of canceled here. The film in question underperformed at the box office, grossing around $135 million worldwide against a reported budget of $100 million. Its predecessor, on the other hand, grossed around $350 million worldwide against a reported budget of $70 million. Gadot's performance was singled out, with one line-reading even going viral. You know the one: "Enough champagne to fill the Nile!"

You guessed it; the movie we're talking about is Death on the Nile, director Kenneth Branagh's sequel to Murder on the Orient Express. Both films were based on popular books by Agatha Christie, and featured Branagh himself playing the iconic detective Hercule Poirot. Death on the Nile received mixed reviews and is now sitting at a 62% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics' consensus reads, "Old-fashioned to a fault, the solidly entertaining Death on the Nile is enlivened by its all-star cast and director-star Kenneth Branagh's obvious affection for the material." Branagh returned to direct and star in a third installment, A Haunting in Venice, which made around $120 million worldwide against a reported budget of $60 million, and received mixed reviews again. Death on the Nile left Peacock this month, but is available to rent and purchase on Apple TV. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
