If there is one thing that Bethesda is known for above all else, it is its bugs and glitches. So much so, that titles such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 3 would just not be the same without some hilarious scenes that should not have even been included in the first place. However, against all the odds, it is these bugs and glitches that have made the games even more memorable, with many hoping that any future remakes of some of Bethesda's hit titles will still keep the bizarre nature of the originals.
That is the case for Bethesda's Fallout 3 Remaster, which is rumored to be "as well polished" as The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered. The only issue? Oblivion was not considered the most successful in terms of technicality.
The Fallout 3 Remake May Not Be A Slam Dunk
Bethesda EntertainmentAccording to reports, the Fallout 3 Remaster courtesy of Bethesda and Virtuous Studios’ is still in active development after files were discovered as part of FTC documents during the launch of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered. Created using Unreal Engine 5, the remaster of the 2008 Bethesda hit was discussed in a report by The Verge back in February. It was here that Xbox unveiled its plans for the upcoming year, which included everything from the summer launch of Halo: Campaign Evolved to Gears of War: E-Day which is expected to arrive this fall.
According to the outlet's Tom Warren, Fallout 3 Remastered is still on track. “The game is still in active development, and I understand Bethesda is keen to ensure it’s as well polished as the surprise release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered last year,” the report read. Although this sounds good on the surface, it is worth remembering that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which launched just last year, may be an improvement in many ways, but it still leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to the technical side. Thanks to the remaster being housed in an old version of Gamebryo, significant technical issues ensued, so it is not reassuring to learn that Fallout 3 Remastered may follow suit.
Fallout Fans Expect The Remake This Year
Nevertheless, with Fallout 3 being a beloved entry in the long-running Bethesda franchise, fans are still going to want to see a remaster, regardless of how it may end up performing upon launch. As such, a discussion kicked off over on r/fo3 following the news that the Fallout 3 Remaster would be "as well polished" as Oblivion.
"I’m playing Fallout 3 now, and it is better than OG Oblivion," one user shared. "The main issue is the difficulty in the beginning. If they can add ADS and improve the graphics, it will be worth it. FO3 also came out a little less than 3 years after Oblivion. Should theoretically be a better experience." However, user ronshasta had a different experience with Oblivion, sharing, "Oblivion Remastered played like a dream on my PlayStation, so I don't know what everyone else is talking about. If they make a Fallout remaster that runs like that, then I will be amazed." With others claiming that they do not even care if Fallout 3 Remastered is a "buggy mess", it seems as though Bethesda has nothing to worry about, so let us hope that we get an official confirmation of the game's existence soon.
