There is less than a month to go before the 98th Academy Awards are celebrated at L.A.'s Dolby Theatre, and the race for the Best Actor prize is proving unmissable. Although the Best Actress race seems like a foregone conclusion, the Best Actor category feels primed for an upset. Leading the way, at least in the eyes of the bookies, is Timothée Chalamet, who is attempting to make up for losing last year by taking home gold for his electric lead turn in the sports drama Marty Supreme.

His biggest competition comes in the form of former winner Leonardo DiCaprio for his starring turn in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, with the rest of the nominees including Michael B. Jordan for his biting performance in Ryan Coogler’s vampire flick, Sinners; Wagner Moura for his starring performance in The Secret Agent; and Ethan Hawke for his leading role in Richard Linklater's Blue Moon. The latter of these earned his first of five Academy Award nominations back in 2001 in a crime thriller that won his co-star a Best Actor trophy.

Denzel Washington's turn as the mean-spirited Detective Alonzo Harris in Training Day is a masterclass in power performances, and earned a well-deserved Best Actor prize from the Academy. Ahead of this year's ceremony and Hawke's bid for gold, you can catch this crime thriller classic on a new streaming site. As of March 1, Training Day will be available to stream on Starz. Nods for the performances from Washington and Hawke might've been all Training Day received from the Academy, but the film did earn other accolades, including four Black Reel Awards, an American Film Institute Award, an NAACP nomination for Outstanding Motion Picture, and more.

Against a $45 million budget, Training Day was a modest success during its 2001 theatrical run, grossing $104 million worldwide. Split between $76 million in domestic revenue and just $28 million from overseas markets, the film earned enough to finish within the top 40 highest-grossing titles first released in 2001. It also marked an important box office milestone for Hawke, as it became his first movie since 1989's Dead Poets Society to earn over $100 million in global revenue.

Denzel Washington's beloved crime thriller Training Day will be available to stream on Starz this March. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider for all the latest streaming stories.
