For instance, the two new Netflix series of 2026 that alternated themselves on the streaming service's all-time global TV show chart were the crime thrillers His & Hers, a limited series starring Marvel's Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson, and I Will Find You, a Netflix adaptation of the Harlan Coben novel — another such hit.
Crime series have also found streaming success outside of Netflix, with Prime Video's Cross and Scarpetta, the DC Green Lantern series Lanterns on HBO Max, and many more doing well on their respective streaming services. On network TV, crime shows like the police procedurals The Rookie, which stars Nathan Fillion, Law & Order, NBC's long-running series, and so on. The Mentalist has hit the milestone of 30 days on the Amazon VOD chart in the United States, according to FlixPatrol, still being present on the platform's Top 25 TV Shows chart. After starting a chart climb early in September, when it ranked 22nd on Amazon VOD on September 3, The Mentalist stands as Amazon VOD's 17th most-watched TV show in the US at the time of writing. It has ranked higher between those dates, but the fact that the crime series is still on the chart for what has now been a full month is an incredible development.
The Mentalist boasts a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
While The Mentalist has been trending on Amazon VOD nationwide for 30 days, there are quite a few TV shows with longer streaks on the chart right now. The one that has trended for the most time so far is Taylor Sheridan's Landman, which stands at a whopping 407 days. While that is quite a milestone, this run could break down at any moment, as Landman currently ranks lower than The Mentalist on the platform's daily chart, sitting at the final spot, 25th. The Mentalist also leaves behind Peacock's The Five Star Weekend, the sports drama All American, and more.
Will The Show Ever Return?
2026 marked a reunion of The Mentalist stars in a way, as both Patrick Jane actor Simon Baker and Grace Van Pelt actress Amanda Righetti starred in Prime Video's Scarpetta, the psychological crime thriller series that is led by Nicole Kidman, though their characters appeared in different timelines. As for a formal reboot of The Mentalist or a sequel series, there are no plans for such a show at this time, and Teresa Lisbon star Robin Tunney told ScreenRant earlier this year at the SXSW premiere of her movie, Ugly Cry, that she wants to keep making different projects, not a The Mentalist reboot.
