There are very few relatively young franchises around right now that are doing quite as well as Dungeon Crawler Carl. Since starting as a web series back in 2019, it has gone from strength to strength and garnered millions of fans the world over, all of whom are desperate for new releases that give them a further window into its bonkers world.
We have also seen plenty of other adaptations coming out that are attached to the franchise, as various companies try to capitalize on its ever-growing popularity. Now, one of the most exciting of those is about to get an important expansion, and if you're planning to play the base game, it could easily take your first run up to the next level.
Credit: Dandy HouseIn case you haven't had the pleasure of being introduced to it just yet, Dungeon Crawler Carl has an official tabletop roleplaying game on the way, and it looks like easily the most interactive fun you can have with the franchise moving forward. It comes with a d20-based, skill-driven system that will be familiar to existing fans of games like D&D and, as in the original work, you'll have to entertain a galactic audience and try to win the favor of the AI in charge of it all.
Over on the Renegade Game Studios website, the company confirmed the upcoming release is The Royal Court Minis Set 1, bringing in nine pre-painted Dungeon Crawler Carl miniatures including many of the main characters from the bestselling LitRPG book series. The new set is available for pre-order right now, and it should be dispatched in November by current estimates, though this is subject to potential delay if more time is needed. It's currently priced at $65.00, though to make use of it, you will obviously need to buy the base version of the game, which is available for an additional $55.00 (when it launches).
"Based on the best-selling book series, this official TTRPG lets you become a crawler in the brutal, televised labyrinth known as the World Dungeon," reads the official RPG product description. "Build your character from the ground up with nearly infinite combinations of backgrounds, skills, races, and classes. Roll dice, rack up achievements, entertain your viewers, crack open loot boxes, and try not to get killed."
Outside of that, there's so much going on around the franchise as a whole that it's a little difficult to keep up with everything. The big news is that there is a major live-action TV series on the way via Peacock, written and led by Chris Yost and Eric Heisserer and produced in conjunction with Seth Macfarlane's Fuzzy Door Productions.
At the same time, the Special Edition #0 of Dungeon Crawler Carl is available as a new book, adapting the opening chapter of the webtoon into graphic novel form. Add to that the upcoming roleplaying game above and we should all be very entertained for a while to come yet.
