Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.

For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things BoschMission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider's news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.

He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.

His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan's work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

One of Rosamund Pike’s two upcoming collaborations with Guy Ritchie just locked in a release date — and it’s not far off. Leading the cast is Benedict Cumberbatch, alongside Anthony Hopkins, James Norton, Pike, and Cosmo Jarvis. Wife and Dog is set within British aristocracy and reportedly leans into comedy with a sharp, satirical edge. Expect schemes, betrayal, and power plays — but filtered through Ritchie’s slick, stylized lens.

Wife and Dog will hit theaters on October 23, 2026, giving audiences a late-fall aristocratic comedy packed with backstabbing, sharp dialogue, and what sounds like classic Ritchie chaos. According to Cumberbatch, the film carries a similar tone to The Gentlemen, which became a major hit for Ritchie on Netflix, which means comedic violence, stylish action and sparkling wit, hopefully.

Cumberbatch has teased that he plays a character in the vein of a Tom Hardy or Jason Statham-type — a far cry from some of his more reserved dramatic roles — and by all accounts, he had an absolute blast stepping into that lane. In fact, it's occurred to us that Cumberbatch has rarely been seen taking on a role quite like this, so we're fascinated to see what he does when he steps outside of his comfort zone.

What's 'Wife and Dog' About?

Eagle-eyed fans previously spotted Hopkins and Cumberbatch filming at Sandown Park Racecourse in the UK, a location that fits the film’s aristocratic setting perfectly, and horse racing plays a significant role in the cultural backdrop of the film’s world, which makes the racecourse setting more than just aesthetic window dressing. The sport remains one of the biggest in the UK and continues to grow internationally, particularly in the U.S., making it a smart choice for a period comedy.

For Pike, this marks one of two collaborations with Ritchie currently in the works. She's also part of the cast of In the Grey, an action thriller led by Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza Gonzalez. The synopsis states: 'Two extraction specialists must plan a route of escape for a female negotiator.'

In the Grey is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 10, 2026. Wife and Dog will release in theaters on October 23, 2026. It's Guy Ritchie's world right now and we're just mobsters living in it.
