Star Wars fans have spotted a massive clue that Hondo Ohnaka, one of George Lucas' most iconic characters from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, could finally make his live-action debut in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. These are exciting times for fans of Star Wars animation, with many major characters making the transition into live-action. Rosario Dawson starred as the live-action Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian season 2, The Book of Boba Fett, and even her own show, while Steven Blum and Katie Sackhoff have reprised the roles of Zeb and Bo-Katan Kryze.

Now, Star Wars fans have spotted an exciting clue that one classic Clone Wars character, the pirate and smuggler Hondo Ohnaka, could well make his live-action debut in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. The recent Skeleton Crew trailer features shots of a mysterious planet that looks like it's part of the galactic underworld, and a very familiar ship appears to be docked there. It looks to be the Katooni, Hondo's spaceship from Smuggler's Run in Galaxy's Edge.

Who Is Hondo Ohnaka & How Could He Fit Into Skeleton Crew?

Star Wars' most iconic pirate

Lucasfilm has been keeping the plot of Skeleton Crew largely under wraps - at least until the latest trailer, which blew the plot wide open. Set five years after Return of the Jedi, and concurrent with The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew stars a bunch of kids from an Earth-like planet who are lost in the Star Wars galaxy. Somehow, they wind up dealing with pirates and a hunt for ancient treasure.

Created by George Lucas and voiced by Jim Cummings, Hondo Ohnaka is easily one of Star Wars' most recognizable pirates and smugglers. He made his debut in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and returned in Star Wars Rebels as something of a familiar face. A Jedi sympathizer who doesn't mind betraying even for his friends for a quick credit, Hondo is a major character at the Galaxy's Edge theme park. It's easy to see why a figure like Hondo would factor into a pirate-centric story set at the height of his career.

Our Take On Hondo's Potential Star Wars Return

He'd be the perfect addition to Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

He may be a Jedi sympathizer, but Hondo wouldn't necessarily be an ally to the kids in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew; he wasn't above trying to traffick Force-sensitive children during the Clone Wars, giving a sense of just how dangerous Hondo really is. This means he'd be the perfect addition to Star Wars' upcoming TV show, a shades-of-gray character who'd work well in the pirate story. Hondo would most definitely be interested in the mysterious treasure the kids have apparently stumbled on, meaning he'd be a formidable antagonist.
