‘One Battle After Another,’ ‘Sinners,’ and ‘Frankenstein’ Win at 2026 MUAHS Awards, Dedicated to the Best in Make-Up and Hairstyling Craft

1 week ago 15

What’s sneakily Hollywood’s most glam awards show? Why, it’s the MUAHS, of course! The annual gala for the Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild (MUAHS, IATSE Local 706) celebrates the best in the year’s make-up and hairstyling across film, television, commercials, and live theater. No one shows up looking less than expertly crafted (because so many of them literally are).

The 13th Annual MUAHS Awards, presented by the L’Oréal Groupe and Giovanni Eco Chic Beauty, were hosted by Rachael Harris and took place on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.

Big winners in the Feature Motion Picture categories included “One Battle After Another,” “Sinners,” and “Frankenstein.” Television winners included “The Studio,” “Palm Royale,” “Stranger Things” Season 5, “Saturday Night Live,” “Dancing with the Stars,” and “Skeleton Crew.”

Gemma Chan, Mason Reeves and Channing Tatum appear in 'Josephine' by Beth de Araújo, an official selection of the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.

Oscar-nominated actress Amy Madigan was also honored at the event, where she received the Distinguished Artisan Award, the union’s top honor. Per the guild, the award “is presented to an artist whose consistent collaboration with the MUAHS Guild has richly enhanced and created memorable characters throughout their career.” Previous winners include Allison Janney, Annette Bening, Angela Bassett, and Jon Favreau.

The Vanguard Award was given to Emmy‑nominated make‑up artist Michael Johnston, a pioneering force in children’s and teen television for more than three decades. Johnston helped define the visual identity of many of Nickelodeon’s most iconic series, including “All That,” “The Amanda Show,” “Zoey 101,” “Henry Danger,” “iCarly,” and more.

Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning make-up artist Greg Nelson, known for his work on “Raging Bull,” Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” “Batman Returns,” and “Death Becomes Her,” received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Make-Up.

Renowned hairstylist Judy Alexander Cory, whose 60-year career ranges from “Elvis Presley’s Clambake” to the digital revolution of “The Matrix” and acclaimed classics such as “Forrest Gump” and “Hook,” received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Hair Stylists.
