Once Human: Way of Winter - All Mystical Crate Locations

Once Human: Way of Winter introduced new content, including exploring new locations. Along with the new locations come new mystical crates. Mystical crates contain many goodies players will want to get their hands on, including rare weapons, armor blueprints, and other valuable loots.

Mystical Crates in Way of Winter are scattered across three different regions: Onyx Tundra, Vena Fjord, and Ember Strand. Players will find Mystical Crates around important landmarks within each of these regions. Mystical Crates are needed to complete these landmarks, find weapons and armor crates, kill enemies, and activate rift anchors. Some mystical crates can be easy to find, while others are trickier. Finding them is worth the effort, though.

Find All Six Mystical Crates In Onyx Tundra

Onyx Tundra was one of the first areas open in the new Once Human scenario. It is a cold and snowy region and home to landmarks such as Moose City, Obsidian Camp, Wish Land – East, and the Tundra Monolith. It’s also home to six Mystical Crates.

The first Mystical Crate is found in Moose City. While this is one of the earliest Mystical Crates to be found, it still proved difficult to locate. It took my friend and me a while to find it, and even when we did, we struggled to reach it. Here’s the issue: the Mystical Crate is located on top of a large cake-shaped building. While you can jump up onto the lower tiers of the cake, the second to highest tier is out of reach by a normal jump.

So, to reach the Mystical Crate in Once Human's Moose City, you’ll need to summon your motorcycle. You can summon the bike to reach the cake in a few different locations, but we did so by summoning it below the second to the highest tier. You can then climb onto the motorcycle, jump onto one of the candles on the side of the cake, and then jump onto the second to the highest tier. From there, jump up to the highest tier and open the Mystical Crate.

The next Mystical Crate is in the Moose City Food Factory. Enter the factory and start melting the ice blocks with your torch or a Molotov Cocktail. I prefer to use the Molotov Cocktail as it’s easier and quicker to melt ice. Eventually, you’ll find an ice block blocking the entrance to a room. Melt the ice and proceed through the room and down a set of stairs until you reach the Mystical Crate.

Another Mystical Crate can be found in the Obsidian Camp. The Mystical Crate is at the top of the base that overlooks the mountains. There’s no way to reach the crate from outside. Instead, head inside and up the stairs to the right. Turn right and head up another set of stairs. Glide down with V to the broken window across the room and head through. Continue across wooden platforms, up wooden ramps, and across a wooden half-wall to reach the Mystical Crate.

Head to Wish Land – East for the next Once Human Mystical Crate, located on the roof of the central orange castle. Head inside the castle and take the stairs to the left. Immediately turn right and take another set of stairs up. Outside, you’ll see another staircase to the right, which you’ll take up and continue going up until you reach the Mystical Crate.

Onto the Great River Shelter Danger Zone. This Mystical Crate is locked behind a puzzle. Head into the central building and up the stairs. You’ll see a room with a locked door and a blue square outside of it. Stand inside the square and face the wall where there are disconnected yellow patterns. Align the yellow pattern to create an R. The room will unlock, granting you access to the Mystical Crate inside.

The final Mystical Crate in Onyx Tundra is in the Tundra Danger Zone. The area is heavily guarded, so stock up on some ammo and make sure all your gear and weapons are repaired. Head to the location and battle your way towards the Tundra Monolith. The Mystical Crate is located on top of a container near the entrance.

Having trouble surviving the cold to find these Mystical Crates? Make sure to craft a Chaosium lantern to keep yourself warm. Also, adjust your armor as needed, and keep some heatium in your bag as an extra measure.

All Vena Fjord Mystical Crate Locations

Five Mystical Crates Scattered Around Vena Fjord

Vena Fjord in Once Human has five Mystical Crates to find. The first is located on Fiskur Harbor. The crate is on top of one of the highest containers. Keep climbing until you find it.

The second Mystical Crate can be found in Wish Land – West. Head into the building with the giant octopus entrance. Continue through the building, following the path and jumping across different platforms when needed. Follow the rollercoaster track on foot or by taking it when it appears. You’ll eventually be outside again. Head across another rollercoaster track, heading up until you reach another platform with a gazebo and a Mr. Wish statue.

Head into the building across from the statue to encounter a claw machine monster. You can fight or run past it. Either way, head up the stairs behind it and take a sharp right to go up another set of stairs. Continue doing this until you reach the top room. Head into another large room and up another set of stairs to the left to find the Mystical Crate on this floor.

The Hiverail Restricted Area in Once Human is the next Mystical Crate location. The Mystical Crate is located on top of a very large rock formation in the middle of the cave. To get there, head first to the rift anchor. From the rift anchor, glide to the ledge of the rock formation. Take the updraft ventilation systems to ascend upward and continue doing so until you reach the top and the Mystical Crate.

The fourth Mystical Crate is at the Avalanche Danger Zone. Head toward the Avalanche Monolith, checking inside the small camps and buildings you pass along the way. You’ll eventually come to a small camp close to the gates of the Avalanche Monolith. This camp is where the Mystical Crate is located.

The last Mystical Crate in Vena Fjord is in Frost Forge. Go through the forge until you come to a place with two portals. Take the blue portal, and you’ll be teleported to the Mystical Crate guarded by Igna’s Messenger.

All Ember Strand Mystical Crate Locations

Six More Mystical Crates To Find In The Hotter Area

The final region of Once Human: Way of Winter has six Mystical Crates to find. Since this area is recommended for higher levels, some Mystical Crates can be tricky to get. The first one is in the Firedust Monolith Danger Zone. Head away from the Firstdust Monolith and to the watchtower nearby to find the first crate.

The second Mystical Crate is inside the Fire God Research Center. The crate is in the center of the excavation site. To reach this area, since it’s surrounded by lava, you’ll want to glide down from higher platforms.

Head to the Fire Throat Fortress for your third Mystical Crate. Head inside the fortress, either killing or ignoring the enemies there. If you choose to take on the enemies, think about upgrading your armor and build in Once Human. The Mystical Crate will be straight ahead and to the right.

Your next Mystical Crate location is inside Fire Throat. Arrive at the Fire Throat Fortress and take the elevator down. Then, go around, heading down and up some stairs and platforms until you reach the Mystical Crate platform. There will be an elite enemy guarding the Mystical Crate. Take him down and claim your reward.

Next, head to Ashenton in Once Human. Explore the area until you see a sign that says “This Way” with an arrow pointing to the right. You may have to glide over to this area from a higher area to avoid stepping in any lava. Follow the area into a rundown building. Jump over rubble and head up six sets of stairs. Head to the right from the last set of stairs and jump down to a smaller area of the building to find the Mystical Crate.

Lastly, head to Sunshroud Cave. Head inside the cave, fighting or ignoring the Vulture enemies inside. Follow the cave until you reach an area with the rift anchor. Glide toward the rift anchor, but there is a detour to the right, where the Mystical Crate is located. And that wraps up the Mystical Crates for the Once Human: Way of Winter scenario.

All Puzzle Mystical Crate Locations

Find Optional Puzzle Mystical Crates And Get More Loot

While you may have found all the normal Mystical Crate locations in Once Human, the fun isn’t over yet. There are still the Puzzle Mystical Crates to find. Like the normal crates, these Puzzle Mystical Crates are located all around the three regions. Unlike the normal crates, they do not count towards completing quests for each region. Still, they are a fun objective with some nice loot inside, including Stardust.

Puzzle Mystical Crates are identified by glowing purple shadows. Interact with these purple shadows by stepping on them. Once you step on one, another will appear, and then stepping on the second will make the third appear. Step on the third to reveal a Puzzle Mystical Crate.

In Onyx Tundra, you can find the Puzzle Mystical Crates in the Moose City Food Factory, Obsidian Camp, Moose City, Great River Shelter Zone, and Wish Land - East. In Vena Fjord, the Puzzle Mystical Crates are located in Fiskur Harbor, the Hiverail Restricted Area, Frost Forge, Wish Land – West, and Zone of Haze. The only Puzzle Mystical Crate I’ve found in Ember Strand is at the Fire God Research Center.

While the Mystical Crates aren’t new to Once Human, the Puzzle Mystical Crates are and were only introduced in Once Human: Way of Winter. Though optional, I’ve enjoyed hunting them down and the loot they’ve provided especially the Stardust. As Once Human continues to grow and release new scenarios, expect to continue hunting down Mystical Crates, and hopefully the Puzzle Mystical Crates.
