One Stardew Valley player spent over 1500 hours in-game, only to just get their hands on the highly coveted, and seemingly non-existent, Auto Petter tool. The tool was introduced in 1.5, and it can be used to give farm animals those extra head pats every day without having to go through them one by one. This not only saves a massive amount of time each day but keeps the barn and coop animals as happy as can be while creating high-quality milk, eggs, and more.

Reddit user josefugly posts that after a whopping 1500 hours, they have finally gotten their hands on their very first Auto Petter. The item only has a 3.6% drop chance from looting chests within Skull Cavern, but can also be purchased from JojaMart after completing the Joja Community Development Form. Commenters on the post share their luck with the elusive Auto Petter tool but also share some sad tales of what can go horribly wrong once looting one for the first time.

The Auto Petter In Stardew Valley Is A Hot Topic

Getting The Auto Petter Seems To Be All About Luck And RNG

While some fans comment that they got their hands on several Auto Petter throughout their playthrough in less time than the original poster, finding the tool is really just based on luck and chance. One commenter, known as Didamit tells their story of how they got the Auto Petter and lost it all within a second thanks to a very poorly placed bomb within their barn. They state,

I found one on level 102 and then promptly texted my son to share my joy.

Five minutes later I texted my son a series of explatives and said "nevermind" because I placed the auto petter in my coop and then promptly accidentally dropped a bomb and blew it up.

Other commentators stood by the Didamit, saying that a day reset could have fixed the issue, but if they had exited and re-entered the title without saving, they still would have lost the Auto Petter, so it was a lose-lose situation. Players such as foxontherox on Reddit believe that the item is something of a legend, as they state, "I still don’t believe they exist." Several others agree with foxontherox, as they have played for hours upon hours without even a glimpse of the Auto Petter, including chubbybunn89 who has over 800 hours in-game.

Our Take: Stardew Valley Fans Find Joy In The Little Wins

Every Dog Has Their Day, Or In This Case -- Every Player

Stardew Valley is full of little wins and losses throughout everyone's playthroughs. Sometimes, you stumble upon a chance discovery that makes the game a little more fun, and other times you get trapped behind a small piece of wood thanks to laziness. These little victories make the title as engaging, fun, and interesting as possible, and make it to where you really never stop finding new things as you play again and again.

One Stardew Valley player seems to have amazing luck, as they loot two Prismatic Shards within the mines, taking to Reddit to share the find.

As someone who has accidentally blown up their entire cellar filled to the brim with aged wine, I know the feeling of rage and defeat all too well. Luckily, I knew that resetting the day also saved my wine, so the miniature loss was still a victory in the end. While Stardew Valley has its quirks, bugs, and moments of intense displeasure, it also brings joy to so many through its cozy storytelling, fun farming features, and getting your hands on an item you have been hoping to get for over 1500 hours.
