1 week ago 8

The Unknown, David Cale’s Off Broadway thriller starring Sean Hayes that was recently nominated for a prestigious Lucille Lortel Award, will be streamed during its final weekend on stage this month.

The captured live broadcasts are available only at the following curtain times: Friday, April 10 at 8 PM; Saturday, April 11 at 2 PM; Saturday, April 11 at 8 PM; and Sunday, April 12 at 3 PM.

Hayes, the play’s sole performer, stars as Elliott, an author desperate to cure his writer’s block who retreats to a remote cabin only to discover he may not be alone. The synopsis: “As the boundaries between his work and his life collapse, Elliott begins to question everything he knows. Is he writing a thriller? Living one? Both? The Unknown is a provocative thriller that explores the fine line between fascination and obsession.”

Today’s announcement was made by producers Seaview and ATG Productions. Leigh Silverman directs. Presented by LD Entertainment, in partnership with Broadway.Stream and The League of Live Stream Theater, tickets for The Unknown and streaming information are available here, with audiences encouraged to purchase in advance. The website lists a ticket price of $89.

The stream opens 30 minutes before curtain, with additional pre-show content available.

“The team behind The Unknown has crafted Off Broadway theater at its very finest with Sean Hayes as a true star at the helm,” said Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon of LD. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to invite virtual audiences into Studio Seaview for the first time, and reimagine how fans can engage with live performance in a more accessible way.”

LD recently announced that Hadestown: The Musical will be released in cinemas nationwide this summer in partnership with Bleecker Street.

The Unknown began performances at Studio Seaview Off Broadway on Saturday, January 31, and officially opened on Thursday, February 12. The limited engagement ends Sunday, April 12, having broken the Studio Seaview house record five times.
