Nintendo Planning One Last "Big Game" For Switch, According To Reputable Leaker

5 hours ago 2

The era of the Nintendo Switch may be ending, but rumor has it that Nintendo plans to release one final big game for the current-gen console. After months of speculation and anticipation, the Nintendo Switch 2 was finally announced, and all eyes are on the next generation console from Nintendo. However, it seems that the giant game company is not ending its support for the current Switch, if rumors are to be believed.

Industry insider PH Lutti Lippe, known simply as Brazil, appeared on the XdC News podcast #55 on the O X do Controle YouTube channel to discuss the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal. In the episode, Brazil confidently states that Nintendo has plans for one final hurrah before shifting its attention to the next console. In the podcast, Brazil claims that Nintendo still has one more big game to announce for the Switch, specifying that it will be new and not a remaster. In a discussion on famiboards, Brazil clarified that the title will be a new game in a beloved, but niche, genre, leading to speculation about what Nintendo may be planning.

Nintendo May Be Planning Another Nintendo Direct In February, Says Brazil

A Feb Direct Would Focus On The Switch 1

in addition to the Nintendo Direct scheduled for April 2, Brazil claims there will be an additional Nintendo Direct in early February. While April's direct will focus on the next-gen console, the Feb presentation will be all about the current Switch, says Brazil, and will announce the aforementioned new title. Brazil seems confident about this and cites his previous success at predicting the Microsoft Direct scheduled for January 23 way back in early December.

Diablo 4 Could Be Coming To The Nintendo Switch 2 According To Leaks

A credible leaker has stated that Diablo 4 could be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year, along with several other big-name titles.

Brazil also predicts a Pokémon reveal to come in the next month or so before the company shifts completely to talk about the Switch 2. This aligns with some datamining-inspired rumors that both Pokémon games currently in development will be available for the Switch 1 and 2. Pokémon Day in 2025 will arrive on February 27, which is when the company is likely to reveal more details about its plans for the coming titles.

Our Take: Which Games Might Nintendo Announce For The Nintendo Switch 1?

An Ace Attorney Game Might Be Coming To Switch, Some Speculate

The information that Nintendo has one final big but niche game to reveal for the Nintendo Switch has fans trying to figure out what's coming their way. One likely possibility is the announcement of an Ace Attorney game, which would certainly fit the description. There hasn't been a new title in the Ace Attorney franchise since 2017, and the Switch has no dedicated titles, only remakes and compilations.

It's even possible that the Ghost Trick remaster released in 2023 was a way of hinting at the AA reveal, since both were created by Shu Takumi. There's no way to know at this time what game Nintendo plans to release, if any. If an earlier Nintendo Direct for the Nintendo Switch does happen, it's expected to be held in the first or second week of February.
