Demi Lovato & Gracie Abrams Call Out “Shady” Meta For Blocking Them From Unfollowing Donald Trump & JD Vance; Tech Company Admits Problem

Demi Lovato and Gracie Abrams called out Meta for not letting them unfollow social media accounts for Donald Trump and JD Vance.

With the transition of White House administrations, the official POTUS and VP accounts are changing and some Instagram users are having a difficult time unfollowing them after Joe Biden and Kamala Harris left office.

“I have unfollowed this guy twice today,” Lovato shared on her Instagram Stories alongside a screenshot of the @VP profile now under Vice President JD Vance. “Shady f***ing business Meta.”

Abrams also had a similar experience and shared her thoughts on Instagram Stories, writing, “Hello! I had to unfollow @vp and @potus three separate times today because @meta kept automatically refollowing the accounts.”

“How curious!” Abrams continued. “Had to block them in order to make sure I am nowhere near that. Sharing in case this is happening to your account as well.”

Meta’s Communication Director Andy M. Stone took to Threads to address the issue and admit the problem amid the transition between administrations.

“People were not made to automatically follow any of the official Facebook or Instagram accounts for the President, Vice President or First Lady,” Stone clarified. “Those accounts are managed by the White House so with a new administration, the content on those Pages changes.”

Stone continued, “This is the same procedure we followed during the last presidential transition. It may take some time for follow and unfollow requests to go through as these accounts change hands.”

The content from the previous administration shared on the @potus and @vp accounts get archived into a separate account. Some users reported not following the previous administration’s social media profiles and finding they were now following the new administration.
