Nicole Scherzinger showed that it takes plenty of hard work to maintain her incredibly toned physique, as she hit the gym in a new Instagram post.

The Pussycat Dolls star, 48, displayed her toned abs in tight blue sportswear as she showed off her weightlifting skills.

Nicole shared a video on her Instagram that showed her lifting weights with a personal trainer before jumping on the treadmill.

She captioned her post: 'Built not born.

'You won't always feel ready. You won't always feel strong but stay grounded, show up anyway. That's where real strength is built.'

The star's personal trainer has previously shared how she is 'extremely dedicated' in the gym, while detailing the step-by-step plan she uses to maintain her figure.

Speaking to Daily Mail in 2019, Paolo Mascitti said: 'Nicole is extremely dedicated in the gym, she is so hardworking, which makes her such a pleasure to work with.

'Due to her background in dance, she needs both physical and mental stimulation in her workout routines. This means changing it quite frequently.'

Paolo said a realistic time frame to see real results is three months, and incorporating both strength training and cardio into your regime is important.

'I recommend performing a HIIT training session (High Intensity Interval Training) and adding weights, as you are able to build cardiovascular endurance and muscular endurance simultaneously,' he explained.

'HIIT workouts typically burn more calories in less time than most other cardio routines. Due to the higher intensity, your muscle shifts into excess, post exercise oxygen consumption, and during this period your body burns additional calories at a higher rate to repair your muscles.

'This recovery keeps your metabolism boosted for hours after training.'

It comes after Nicole's band The Pussycat Dolls announced their comeback in March along with their first single in six years, Club Song - produced and co-written by Mike Sabath.

However, last month they were forced to axe the entire US leg of their comeback tour due to dismal ticket sales.

Ashley Roberts, Nicole and Kimberly Wyatt had originally announced they would be reuniting as a trio for massive 53-date run across the UK, Europe and North America.

But in a humiliating blow, the band have now been forced to scrap the 33 dates they had planned in their native US as well as Canada after poor sales left arenas 80% empty.

Even after slashing the price of seats to just $30, organisers had no choice but to pull the plug only a month before they were set to have their first show in Palm Desert, California on June 5.

Sharing a statement to Instagram, the band wrote: 'When we announced the PCD FOREVER Tour, we hoped to bring the show to fans across the world.

'After taking an honest look at the North American run, we've made the difficult and heartbreaking decision to cancel all but one of the North America dates.

'Our UK and European dates are still moving forward as planned, and the response has been incredible, with several shows already sold out,' they continued.

'We are putting everything into making this show a true celebration of the music and the memories, for the fans who have been with us from the beginning and those discovering us for the first time.

'We're working hard to create the kind of show we've always dreamed of bringing to you. We cannot wait to bring this reunion to Europe and make these nights unforgettable.'

The trio will, however, continue the European leg of their tour, which will kick off in Copenhagen in September followed by shows in Paris, Warsaw and the UK.

Those who bought tickets from Ticketmaster or AXS were informed they would receive a full refund automatically, while those who bought theirs from third-party resellers have been advised to contact their point of purchase.

The Pussycat Dolls' comeback has been marred in controversy since it was first announced due to the exclusion of three of the group's founding members, Carmit Bachar, Jessica Sutta and Melody Thornton.

Carmit and Jessica have since revealed they were both blindsided by the reunion and were never even asked to take part, with the latter going as far as to call it a 'cash grab'.

Asked by a fan if she was going to meet up with the rest of the Pussycat Dolls, Jessica replied: 'No, I'm not. They have been planning it for a year and blatantly didn't ask Carmit and I.

'We are finding it all out the same time as you are. I was not contacted regarding the group's decision to move forward, and I learned of these plans at the same time as the public.'

Carmit went on to call the trio's move 'disappointing on a personal level' but added that she remains 'proud of the role I played in helping shape what The Pussycat Dolls became.'

'My intention in sharing this is not to create division, but to honor the truth and the fans who have supported us throughout the years,' she continued.

'Transparency and respect are values I hold deeply. At this time, I am choosing to focus on my wellbeing and to move forward with positivity and purpose.'
