Nicole Richie and Joel Madden's nepo baby daughter Kate, 18, transforms into undead bride for Halloween

Nicole Richie's daughter Kate Madden transformed into an undead bride to celebrate Halloween on Saturday night.

The 18-year-old daughter of Richie and Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden showed off her costume, which featured striking, blue face paint and a wedding veil pinned to the top of her head, via Instagram.

She shared a couple of photos posing in the bridal white outfit, which featured a lacy crop top and a miniskirt, alongside the caption: 'I do.'

'I'm very obsessed,' her reality TV star mother wrote in the comments section as she voiced her support. 

The teenager, whose full name is Harlow Winter Kate Madden though she goes by her middle name Kate, recently graduated from high school and celebrated with a rare, public family reunion with Richie's mother.

Kate is one of two children Richie shares with Madden. The longtime couple, who got married in December 2010 after four years together, are also parents to son Sparrow, 17. 

Two years ago, Richie said parenting is 'so fun' now that both of her kids are teenagers. 

She admitted that parenting teenagers can be crazy but said it is her 'favorite stage.' 

'I just so clearly remember being 16, that it's actually surprising how quickly I can go back there,' she told Hoda Kotb during an appearance on Today in April 2024. 

'When my daughter's telling me drama with her friends, I go, "I remember. Laila Heckmath did that to me." I remember first and last names, so it's fun. It's wild. And just the best.' 

She also shared the same sentiment in an interview with People in October last year. 

'I very much remember I think now that I'm seeing my kids at an age where I remember everything from that age, so they'll be telling me stories of whatever the comings and goings of them and their friends.'

'And it sounds exactly like what I was going through senior year,' she told the outlet at the time. 'It's fun. It's like a TV show.' 

In January of this year, the proud mother took to social media with a sweet birthday tribute for Kate's 18th. 

She shared a series of throwback photos, spanning from Kate's infant years to being a toddler and now as a teenager. 

Richie wrote in the caption, '18 years of you,' and tagged Kate's Instagram handle. 

Later, she responded to fans confused about her daughter's name and confirmed that Kate has gone by her middle name, instead of Harlow, 'her whole life.' 

Kate's uncle Benji Madden also wished her a happy birthday as he commented on Richie's Instagram post. 

'How to make a grown man cry!!! love you Kate! You're a bad a**! Never forget it! Happy 18!!' 

In December 2024, Richie spoke about parenting in the social media age while making an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show alongside Paris Hilton, her longtime friend and former costar on The Simple Life. 

'Well, the platforms are there and they exist, and that is how people that age communicate with each other,' Richie said while reflecting on how she approaches social media as a mother. 

'And, you know, I think I have been more inclined to — instead of make it this forbidden thing — to really, first of all, understand it on my own so that I know the world that they know.' 

She noted: 'The digital world and the real world are very different things, but it's very real.' 

Richie also said it is important for her, as a parent, to learn about social media, rather than 'not know anything about the digital world because then that just separates me even more from this generation that grew up in that world.'
