When Mass Effect 3's beloved multiplayer mode was left out of the Legendary Edition, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Redemption has finally come in the form of the ME3Tweaks modding team, who have spent the last three years quietly working to not only get multiplayer working, but improve it.

"It's not just a ME3MP port but rather an extensive remaster of the experience," says modder Audemus. "This includes new features like bringing forward LE's native features like controller support/HDR, overhauled UI, rebaked level lighting, upscaled/redrawn textures, upgraded shaders, improved networking/server replication, extensive bug fixes, new gameplay modes, and a stable format for future mod support and easy installation/compatibility."

They're even adding new game modes, like one called "Unified" that combines enemies from multiple factions, and letting players either join ME3Tweaks' server, or set up their own private servers.

The ME3Tweaks team are the same modders who previously revived and revised the Pinnacle Station expansion, a lost DLC for the original Mass Effect that was also left out of the Legendary Edition. They're planning to release the multiplayer mod on N7 Day, which is also when composer Sam Hulick plans to release a re-scored version of the leaked Mass Effect Universe trailer.
