ScreenRant can exclusively reveal new promotional artwork for DC Studios' Supergirl, created for the film's upcoming SCREENX release.
We have three versions of the design below of the new poster release which marks the latest promotional push for Supergirl, which arrives in theaters on June 26 and serves as one of the next major entries in DC Studios' developing cinematic universe, bridging the gap between last year's Superman and the currently-in-production Man of Tomorrow which also features the Kryptonian hero.
SCREENX is a premium theatrical format developed by CJ 4DPLEX that expands select scenes beyond the main screen onto the left and right walls of the auditorium. The format creates a 270-degree presentation designed to extend the scope of key moments throughout a film. SCREENX releases have become a regular part of the theatrical rollout for major studio productions, particularly large-scale action, fantasy, and superhero titles. We love it and regularly host fan screenings in the unique format.
The SCREENX Exclusive Supergirl Poster Art
Supergirl stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, with the film drawing inspiration from Tom King and Bilquis Evely's acclaimed Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic series. The project was first announced shortly after DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled their initial slate of films and television projects for the new DC Universe.
I had the opportunity to visit the set of Superman before Supergirl entered production, and even then it was clear Kara Zor-El would play an important role in the DC Universe's future. The character made her first appearance in Superman, sharing a memorable sequence with Krypto ahead of her own solo film with the super-powered pup.
David Corenswet's Superman Welcomes Milly Alcock's Supergirl To Earth In New DCU Footage
As Supergirl's theatrical release approaches, newly released clips show a the first meeting of Superman and Kara, hinting at his role as her mentor.
Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya, Cruella) directs the film from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira. The cast also includes Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa, who is set to make his long-awaited DC Universe debut as Lobo after having played Aquaman for years for the studio. Gillespie, alongside Alcock and Momoa, came to CinemaCon in April to hype the film for exhibitors and media and showcased a lengthy sequence from the movie that emphasized its cosmic focus.
This new introduction for Supergirl follows Kara during a journey across space alongside Ruthye Marye Knoll, played by Ridley, as the pair pursue the man responsible for the murder of Ruthye's father and attempt to find the antidote to save Krypto. The story is adapts several key elements from King's comic while introducing the character as a central figure in the wider DC Universe.
