New Samsung TVs are getting 5 major AI upgrades - including a smart home favorite

Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered features can be found in most TVs these days, usually in the form of processors that upscale lower-resolution content.

Samsung, though, is rolling out an entire suite of AI features for its upcoming TV lineup that takes things a step further. Collectively called "Vision AI," Samsung says these features don't just boost image quality, but offer insight as to what's on screen and even improve security.  

Here's a look at what Vision AI will bring to 2025 Samsung TVs.

1. AI-boosted video and audio

Like many TV makers these days, Samsung is taking advantage of AI upscaling to make older content look better. The company says this feature is even better for this year's TV lineup, along with HDR Remastering, which uses AI to enhance standard dynamic range content to high dynamic range levels. 

New to 2025 sets is Color Booster Pro, which Samsung says uses AI to offer richer, more vibrant colors.

Wondering where you've seen an actor before? This feature will give you more information about people, places, or products on your screen. Click the new AI button on your remote, and you'll see who the actors are in a given scene, where that scene is taking place, or even the clothing the characters are wearing (which sounds a lot like the Encore AI shopping search).

3. Screen to table

Several food-related features are on the way this year, including one that recognizes the food on your screen and provides recipes for making it -- useful, maybe if you're watching a cooking show and want to replicate what you see. The other lets you track your takeout or grocery delivery order straight from your screen.

4. Keep your home and family members safe

Similar to the feature Roku just rolled out, you'll soon be able to tie your home's security cameras to your television. Samsung AI Home Security will analyze video feeds from your connected cameras and audio from your TV's microphone to help monitor your home.

If the system detects unusual sounds and movements, like falls or break-ins, you'll receive alerts directly on your TV screen (or your phone if you're away).

5. Increased accessibility

Samsung's new TV lineup will have several features focused on accessibility. Live Translation will instantly translate closed captions on live broadcasts in up to seven languages, and Voice Removal with Audio Subtitles will use AI to analyze subtitles, isolate voices, and adjust reading speed.

The latter feature isn't new this year, but Samsung says it's been improved to make it easier for people with visual impairments to follow what's happening.
