A Game of Thrones star is now seeking revenge in a new action thriller that's earning positive reviews.

Lena Headey is best known as the diabolical villain, Cersei Lannister, in all eight seasons of Game of Thrones. However, ever since the series ended in 2019, the Emmy-nominated actor has leaned towards the action genre, with projects like Gunpowder Milkshake, 9 Bullets, Normal, and Beacon 23.

The star is still in action, with a new revenge thriller called Ballestic, which follows a mother who wants to find her son's killers after discovering that the bullet was made at her factory. As of writing, the action thriller currently has a 60% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Although the score will likely fluctuate as more reviews are tabulated, it is currently designated fresh. Moreover, it's the latest movie starring Headey to get generally positive reviews, following Normal, which has 77%.

It seems that 2026 is a rebound year for Headey, as her last few projects weren't exactly critical darlings, including 9 Bullets (0%), Twist (9%), and The Abandons (32%), which Netflix cancelled after just one season. On the other hand, some movies that received generally positive reviews since Game of Thrones include The Flood (67%) and Gunpowder Milkshake (60%).

Generally, Ballistic reviews praise Headey's performance as a grieving mother who seeks justice, especially with the consequences of capitalism being a major theme in today's climate. However, a major critique is pinned on the execution of the character's psychological arc and her dark path, which didn't sit well with some critics, who thought it was uneven or dull. Nevertheless, many agreed that Ballistic is a worthy enough revenge thriller.

While she has mostly appeared in action movies and thrillers, Headey will soon head over to the romantic comedy world. It was recently confirmed that she will be appearing in the upcoming Prime Video sequel, Red, White & Royal Wedding, where she will play Princess Catherine. The film also stars Taylor Zakhar Perez, Nicholas Galitzine, and Uma Thurman.

On the other hand, other projects in production include New-Gen and Netflix's untitled Charlie Brooker series, which stars Barbarians' Georgina Campbell and Paddy Considine, who appeared in the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon.

Alongside Headey, Ballistic stars Hamza Haq, Amybeth McNulty, Jordan Kronis, Amanda Brugel, and Enrico Colantoni. Chad Faust directed, wrote, and starred in the movie.

Ballistic is now playing in limited theaters and is available on video-on-demand.
