Peacock's remake of Tom Hanks' 1989 comedy film The 'Burbs has already shattered several streaming records.

Along with strong viewership, The 'Burbs has also received overwhelming praise from critics, who gave the series an 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is a massive improvement over the Rotten score of 56% that the original film earned. Meanwhile, the audience score for both versions currently sits at 71%.

According to THR, fans watched 712 million minutes of The 'Burbs from February 9 to 16, its first full week on the streaming service, with the remake inching towards 1 billion minutes viewed. If that holds, The 'Burbs will have the highest-viewed premiere in Peacock's history.

While it wasn't able to match or exceed The Best Man: The Final Chapters, whose first-week viewership record of 762 million minutes still reigns supreme over three years later, The 'Burbs still had one of the biggest premiere weeks ever for Peacock.

A major factor helping drive up viewership was the fact that the entire first season of The 'Burbs, consisting of eight episodes, was released on the day of the Super Bowl, with 125 million viewers tuning in across NBC, Peacock and Telemundo. NBCUniversal took advantage of the attention by airing several commercials for the new show.
