Most Pokémon fans are already looking ahead to Gen 10, even if the Winds and Waves games aren't releasing until 2027. However, recent titles like Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Pokopia are still pretty new, and that's not even including the launch of Pokémon Champions or FireRed and LeafGreen arriving on the Switch's eShop. Even Gen 9's Scarlet and Violet still get updates that include free items and new content.
It's been only a few months since the Mega Dimension DLC launched for Legends: Z-A, but it appears that more Pokémon DLC is on the way. This comes via Centro Leaks on X. The popular account posted a recap of what Game Freak and The Pokémon Company are currently working on, and while the post claimed DLC for Winds and Waves is in the works, some more immediate DLC news was also shared.
It looks like Pokémon Pokopia will be getting DLC sometime soon. Centro Leaks cited the 2024 documents that leaked some notable details regarding plans for the game and also mentioned some areas planned for future DLC. Viridian Area, in particular, was mentioned as being a part of the base game originally before being cut. You can view the full post from X above.
The following areas were all called out by Centro Leaks for potential DLC in Pokémon Pokopia:
- Viridian Area
- Cerulean Area
- Cinnibar Area
- Lavender Area
- Celedon Area
It shouldn't be all that surprising that DLC is planned for Pokémon Pokopia, assuming the leak is accurate. The game has gotten a lot of praise from critics and players alike, and ScreenRant's own review of Pokopia gave it a perfect 10/10 score. With a game this popular, DLC makes obvious sense.
We also have to factor in how much DLC other Pokémon releases have gotten. Since Sword and Shield, the mainline games have gotten two DLCs each, Legends: Z-A got its own Mega Dimension DLC late last year, and it seems like Pokémon Pokopia would keep up this tradition by releasing additional post-launch content.
While nothing official has been confirmed, the prospect of DLC for Pokopia should be pretty exciting for the millions of people who are currently playing it on the Switch 2. A few months after launch, we'll hopefully see some kind of official trailer or announcement from Pokémon regarding the game's future soon.
