Goku (Mini) in the latest trailer for Dragon Ball Daima

With only about a month left until Dragon Ball Daima’s premiere, a new trailer for the series has been released worldwide. As with previous trailers, not much is covered beyond the basic premise of Goku going on an adventure after he and his friends are turned into children, but in addition to featuring voice acting, the trailer also showed off a handful of things that will leave fans awestruck.

Even beyond the use of voice acting, the latest trailer for the Dragon Ball Daima anime was easily the biggest one for the series yet. While much of the premise is still being kept under wraps, Dragon Ball Daima ’s latest trailer had major reveals about both the premise and what can be expected of everyone’s power levels, both of which completely change what people thought they knew about the series.

There was already plenty to look forward to with Dragon Ball Daima, and thanks to its latest trailer, it’s set to be even bigger than ever.

Why Goku Going Super Saiyan in Daima Is A Big Deal

Super Saiyan Goku (Mini) in Dragon Ball Daima

The first big reveal in Dragon Ball Daima’s new trailer involves the power levels of Goku and his friends. Previous trailers and side materials implied that everyone being shrunken down in size also meant they lost much of their power, something supported by Goku using the Power Pole and a heavy focus on somewhat grounded martial arts combat. In a surprise twist, however, the latest trailer for Dragon Ball Daima revealed that Goku can still turn Super Saiyan in his shrunken form, meaning that Dragon Ball Daima won’t be scaling back the combat as much as people probably thought.

The latest trailer for Dragon Ball Daima confirms that Goku and everyone else will still have access to their stronger abilities, but that doesn’t mean everything will be the same. Even when Goku turned Super Saiyan in the trailer, the combat appeared to still be somewhat grounded, and that could mean that Goku and everyone else’s “Mini” forms prevent them from using their full power for too long in Dragon Ball Daima. That would be a good way of scaling things back while still maintaining Dragon Ball’s signature combat aesthetic, and hopefully, it won’t take long to clarify the issue.

Dragon Ball Daima Will Explore The Demon Realm For The First Time

Dragon Ball Daima Takes The Series In A Brand-New Direction

Another major reveal in Dragon Ball Daima was about the story’s setting. While it had originally seemed like the story simply took Goku and his friends to an alien world, the latest trailer for Dragon Ball Daima revealed that the story takes place in the Demon Realm, with older promotional art even being updated to reflect that fact. Up until now, the Demon Realm had never been explored outside of the video games and Super Dragon Ball Heroes, making this the first time any canon Dragon Ball work will explore it after it was offhandedly mentioned in the Majin Buu saga in the 1990s.

Between Daima loosely translating to “Evil”, the Supreme Kai being a major character, and how the first trailer had the villain observing the events of the Majin Buu saga, there had always been a theory that the story would relate to Babidi and Majin Buu, somehow, and now, the reveal of Dragon Ball Daima taking place in the Demon Realm all but confirms a connection to the Majin Buu saga’s worldbuilding. Overall, the series has never looked more exciting, and it’s sure to more than live up to its hype once Dragon Ball Daima premieres on October 11.
