Roller has worked as a writer and producer on several comedies and animated shows over the years, most notably Rick & Morty, along with Community, The Goldbergs, Archer, Mr. Mayor and Krapopolis. His most recent project, which he created, is Haunted Hotel, an animated series on Netflix that was renewed for a second season almost a year ago.
Netflix just announced that Haunted Hotel season 2 will premiere Friday, October 9, just in time for Halloween three weeks later. In a post on social media, the popular streaming platform shared the release date news and exclaimed, "Abaddon is back," referring to the demon that's trapped inside a boy's body.
An accompanying video announcing the premiere begins by showing the home screen on Netflix with spooky shows like Stranger Things, Wednesday, Black Mirror and The Haunting of Hill House alongside Haunted Hotel. Abaddon pushes down the icon for Haunted Hotel in order to make his entrance and says, "Greetings. I'm Abaddon, a powerful demon and king in this land."
He then questions viewers about watching KPop Demon Hunters, which is right below him on the Netflix screen. "I think we can do far better," he adds, before attempting to knock all the other shows and movies out of the way.
Abaddon quickly realizes how difficult it would be to get rid of everything except Haunted Hotel and ends up falling down the screen and landing on the icon for his own show. "My domain! Returning October 9? Fools! I decide when I return," he says, before falling once more onto the Demon Hunters.

Haunted Hotel centers on single mother Katherine Freeling, who's in charge of a haunted hotel while trying to raise her two kids. One of the ghosts haunting the building is none other than her estranged brother.
Jimmi Simpson, who has appeared on shows like House of Cards, Westworld, Star Trek: Prodigy, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Dark Matter and the currently airing The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3, voices Abaddon on Haunted Hotel. His co-stars are Will Forte, Eliza Coupe, Skyler Gisondo, Natalie Palamides, Sunita Mani, Riki Lindhome, Duncan Trussell and Maria Bamford.
Roller himself even has a recurring role on Haunted Hotel as Candle Head. Behind the scenes, the Rick & Morty alum is also an executive producer with Chris McKenna, Dan Harmon, Steve Levy, Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina.
Haunted Hotel premiered in September 2025 with solid reviews from critics, who gave it a 79% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the audience score even higher at 89%. Now the animated series is one month away from returning to Netflix with eight brand-new episodes.
