Netflix has renewed Danish crime series The Asset for a second season.
The series follows the work of a young agent, who goes undercover and befirends a drug smuggler’s wife.
Season 1 launched in October last year, and hit the number one position in 52 countries and top 10 in 90, with an overall 11.3 million views.
Lead cast members Clara Dessau, Maria Cordsen, Afshin Firouzi and Nicolas Bro are all returning. Details on Season 2 are scarce, with Netflix saying only the agents “will encounter their greatest challenges yet in the fight for survival and justice.”
The show comes from Profile Pictures, with Samanou Acheche Sahlstrøm the Conceptual Designer, and the lead writer alongside Frederik Ringtved. Episode producers comprise Johanne Algren, Oscar Giese and Christian Bengtson.
Jacob Jarek, Marta Mleczek and Matilda Appelin are the producers.
“It’s truly heartwarming to see how well The Asset has been received,” said Sahlstrøm. “We’re thrilled for the opportunity to dive deeper into each character and unfold their stories for our viewers. This second season turns everything upside down as Tea and Ashley’s worlds collide once again and new challenges push them to their breaking point.”
Production on Season 2 will start in Copenhagen later this year.
