Jeff Dodge (he/him), a published author and graduate of Western Washington University, has been a TV news editor for many years and has had the chance to interview multiple reality show stars, including Randy Jackson, Nick Cannon, Heidi Klum, Mel B and John Cena. Fun Fact: he’s been to every single Idol Live! Tour.

The historical drama Black Sails is about to leave Netflix, as the popular streaming service rotates its licensed content yet again.

Netflix announced which shows and movies are being removed from the streaming platform in April. Black Sails will be leaving Netflix on April 17 alongside 2023's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which means the last day to watch is April 16.

Other content leaving Netflix in the coming weeks includes Cast Away (April 7). Bad Boys: Ride or Die and Kubo and the Two Strings (April 8), The Fairly OddParents seasons 4 and 5 (April 15), Last Christmas and Van Helsing seasons 1-5 (April 16), the James Bond movie collection (April 21) and Harold and the Purple Crayon (April 30).

Best in Show, Cheaper by the Dozen, Despicable Me, District 9, Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat, Free Solo, Ford v Ferrari, Man on Fire, Misery, Pitch Perfect, Rio, The American President, Zero Dark Thirty and Waiting for Guffman are some of the many films that were already removed from Netflix's lineup in early April.

Black Sails stars Toby Stephens as Captain Flint (best known from Treasure Island), who goes on an epic adventure with his crew to search for the Urca de Lima treasure in the 18th Century.

Stephens' co-stars on the show are Hannah New, Luke Arnold, Jessica Parker, Tom Hopper, Zach McGowan, Toby Schmitz, Clara Paget, Mark Ryan, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Sean Cameron Michael, Louise Barnes, Rupert Penry-Jones, Luke Roberts, Ray Stevenson, David Wilmot and Harriet Walter.

Jericho's Jonathan E. Steinberg co-created the series with Robert Levine; both also served as executive producers alongside Transformers director Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Chris Symes, Michael Chernuchin, Dan Shotz and Brad Caleb Kane.

After debuting with a 65% score on Rotten Tomatoes in its first season, positive reviews for Black Sails skyrocketed in season 2, which received a perfect 100% score from critics. The show's average rating on Rotten Tomatoes is 81%.

Black Sails wasn't just a hit with critics. It also scored several award nominations during its run on the air, and won Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series and Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role at the Creative Arts Emmys. The series also won twice at the Visual Effects Society Awards.

Black Sails is considered one of the best shows for history lovers, and its inclusion on Netflix over the past couple of years has widened its audience considerably. While the series will no longer be on Netflix, it will still be available to stream on Starz.
