From TV shows like The Night Agent and Run Away, Netflix has certainly become a hub for heart-racing and mind-bending crime thrillers over the years. But while their catalog is impressive already, it's reportedly gaining another major TV show. Coined as one of the best crime thrillers of the 21st Century, The Mentalist will soon be calling Netflix its new home.
The Mentalist, which first premiered in 2008 and ran for seven seasons until its finale in 2015, is a true treat for crime lovers. Starring Simon Baker as Patrick Jane, a brilliant former con artist who becomes an independent consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation, the series follows intricate investigations into criminal and homicide cases, all while Jane carries out his personal journey for revenge.
'The Mentalist' Will Soon Be Landing On Netflix
According to What's On Netflix, The Mentalist will be coming to Netflix on March 1, 2026, as the latest Warner Bros. Television property to secure a massive international licensing deal with the streaming giant. With that said, there's a catch. While the crime thriller will be on Netflix starting next month, it'll only be available in select regions, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Latin America. Having it available to US audiences, however, might still be an ongoing matter.
While the catch might be disappointing to viewers looking to watch or rewatch the series, The Mentalist is still available in the US, just on another streaming service. As of March 2024, all seasons of the series are available to watch on Hulu and Disney+.

What Is 'The Mentalist' About?
Image via CBSCreated by Bruno Heller, The Mentalist is more than just a crime procedural. Back in his days as a charlatan, Jane's superhuman intelligence made some enemies, and it led to the serial killer known as Red John (Xander Berkeley) murdering his wife and daughter.
Years later, now working as a consultant for the CBI, he uses his out-of-this-world observational skills, to read witnesses like no one else, identify suspects and, in the meantime, keep searching for Red John.
As it turns out, the man who wrecked his life was by no means your average serial killer. Red John, aka the Napa County Sheriff Thomas McAllister, is embedded within California law enforcement and is the head of the Blake Association, a secret criminal enterprise of corrupt California law enforcement officials. With such a worthy opponent, Jane's investigative and observational skills are put to the test more than ever before. In addition to Baker and Berkeley, The Mentalist also stars Robin Tunney, Tim Kang, Owain Yeoman, Amanda Righetti, and John Troy Donovan.
Throughout seven seasons, The Mentalist established a show that's not only riveting with each episodic case, but the right amount of mystery and intrigue with a slow-burning revenge plot at its heart. Starting in March, the series will definitely be a bingeable delight to Netflix subscribers in select regions, who will likely confirm that the series is one of the best crime thrillers of the 21st Century.
