When a network has a hit on its hands, it’s hard to know when to end things. Sometimes, shows can overrun their course and overstay their welcome, losing their oftentimes dedicated fandom along the way. While this has happened time and time again, it certainly isn’t the case for Michael Schur’s The Good Place, which tapped out after a successful, solid, and perfectly complete four-season run. If you’re not familiar with the Ted Danson and Kristen Bell-led comedy, you’re in luck because the title is moving to a brand-new streamer next month. As of February 9, the laugh-out-loud Emmy-nominated series will entertain subscribers on a new streamer when it arrives — with all four seasons — on Hulu.
The next time you’re looking for something to binge, The Good Place should be on your list. Over 53, 22-minute episodes, the series unfurls plenty of twists and turns for its main characters as they try to become better people in the afterlife. In the series, everyone is sorted into either the Good Place or the Bad Place after death, where they will either spend their eternity enjoying the payoff of being good people during life or be forever tortured. The show centers around a quartet of folks who have been sent to the Good Place, as well as their artificial intelligence companion, Janet (D’Arcy Carden), and the afterlife designer, Michael (Danson). Additionally, the show features the leading talents of William Jackson Harper (Midsommar), Manny Jacinto (The Acolyte), and Jameela Jamil (Star Trek: Prodigy).
Michael Schur Is a Certified Hit Maker
Devoted fans of The Office will know Schur as the face behind one of the show’s most beloved side characters — Mose Schrute. In addition to appearing in a supporting capacity in the workplace comedy, Schur also served as a writer and producer. His work behind The Office allowed him to take a giant step forward in his career as the co-creator behind the network’s follow-up comedies, Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
As fans already know, both titles were massive hits for NBC, which only earned Schur more trust. Inevitably, this good faith led him to partner with the network for The Good Place, which ran from 2016 to 2020. Most recently, Schur reunited with Danson for the hit Netflix series, A Man on the Inside, which welcomed its second season late last year.
Head over to Hulu on February 9 to stream all four seasons of The Good Place.
