Taylor Bloom has joined the cast of the NBC drama pilot “Protection,” Variety has learned.
The project was picked up to pilot at NBC in January. Bloom will star alongside previously announced cast members Peter Krause, Hope Davis, Tommy O’Brien, and Kat Cunning.
The logline for the show states, “When a U.S. Marshal falls in the line of duty, a seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into a deadly conspiracy as a family of law enforcement agents become the target of a mysterious assassin. Bridging personal differences and crossing professional boundaries, the Thornhill family must use the expertise from a lifetime of protecting civilians and politicians to protect one another and bring the killer to justice … even if it means betraying their sworn code.”
Bloom will star as Russ Thornhill, described as “A Former Marine now working at the Department of Justice, Russ is idealistic, trusting and believes in the good of people.”
Bloom most recently appeared in the Netflix comedy series “The Vince Staples Show” during the show’s second season. He has also been seen in Season 11 of the hit FX anthology series “American Horror Story.”
He is repped by Buchwald and Authentic Talent and Literary Management.
“Protection” hails from writer and executive producer Josh Safran. Jenna Bush Hager is also an executive producer, as is her producing partner Ben Spector. Rebecca Thomas (“Limetown,” “Stranger Things”) will direct and executive produce the pilot. Universal Television is the studio.
Other drama pilots currently in contention at NBC include a reboot of “The Rockford Files,” the Dick Wolf-produced “What the Dead Know,” and the defective detective drama “Puzzled.”
