National Television Awards 2026 winners: Ant and Dec miss out on Best Presenter AGAIN as Sir David Attenborough triumphs in his 100th year while This Morning, Strictly and Clarkson's Farm scoop gongs

In his 100th year, David Attenborough took home the National Television Award for Best Presenter, leaving Ant and Dec without the gong for the second consecutive year.

The iconic Geordie duo held onto the accolade for a record 23 years before losing out to Gary Lineker at last year's awards. 

And this year they were trumped by the legendary broadcaster, whose producer Mark Brownlow accepted the award on his behalf with his speech focused on the dangers of climate change. 

Meanwhile This Morning’s winning streak continued as Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard took home the award for Best Daytime show alongside Friday hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

Ahead of its revamp this year, Strictly Come Dancing also took home the gong for Best Talent Show, while the Celebrity Traitors won the Factual Entertainment category.

As Alan Carr accepted his second award of the night, after receiving this year’s Special Recognition earlier in the programme, he joked: 'I bet you're sick of me.' 

The BBC hit, hosted by Claudia Winkelman, dominated the nominees, with its regular civilian series also nominated. 

Fellow contestant Charlotte Church jumped on the microphone to praise Alan and Faithfuls Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga for a moment of 'male tenderness and emotion.  

Elsewhere collecting the Reality Docuseries gong was Jeremy Clarkson's Prime Video series Clarkson's Farm. 

The presenter made the shock revelation he was in remission from prostate cancer earlier this year. 

Keeping his speech short and sweet he later broke his silence on the illness during the winner's press conference. 

The 66-year-old said: ‘I wasn't emotional; it was annoying. I had a heart thing, and I had a bit of cancer but I wasn't away really, it was two weeks.

‘It was, it was just annoying because I missed a lot of the harvest time.’

Lee Mack once again took home the gong for his ITV hit The 1% Club as he attended the ceremony with his three children and paid tribute to his wife in his speech. 

The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award was awarded to Michael McIntyre's Big Show - after it was presented by Paris Fury and her daughter Valencia, eight. 

The cast of Mrs Brown’s Boys were ecstatic on hearing they had won Best Comedy Show, in what will be a boost to Brendan O’Carroll after he was forced to cancel this year’s festive specials after breaking his jaw.

Gogglebox, now in its 28th series, was awarded the Factual Entertainment gong, beating Stacey Solomon's Sort Your Life Out. 

For the first time in the history of the National Television Awards, all women led the nominees for Best Drama Performance.

And it was Vicky McClure who came out on top, thanks to her role as volatile explosives officer Lana in Trigger Point.

I Fought the Law, led by Sheridan Smith, won this year’s New Drama gong after an impressive performance. 

This year’s Authored Documentary gong was awarded to the BBC’s special Our Girls: The Southport Families.

Completing the wins for the night was Call The Midwife, who picked up best Returning Drama, Emmerdale who won best Serial Drama and Jeff Hordley who won in the Serial Drama Performance category.  

Speaking during the winners' press conference Conor Moloney who plays the priest in Mrs Brown Boys said: We're just delighted, particularly for Brendan, who's just had this operation, so he just FaceTimed us now, and it was just lovely too. So it's great that we won, particularly for him tonight.

Fiona Gibney, who plays Sharon added: 'He's doing great, isn't he? Yeah, no, he's doing very well. He is doing very well. He's very sad not to be here.

'It's one of his most favourite awards is the NTAs. I mean it's a night out for all of us and it’s kind of, you know, it's a bit, but listen, we will give it to him, the award and he'd be happy.' 

The cast also confirmed a new series will be coming next year.  

The celebrities made sure to bring the glam for the biggest evening in British television as Olivia Attwood, Rochelle Humes and Cat Deeley dazzled in breathtaking gowns as they led the stars on the red carpet.

Television favourites gathered on London's O2 Arena for a star-studded ceremony, with comedian Joel Dommett back as host for the sixth time. 

Olivia, 35, looked like a real life Barbie doll as she slipped into a strapless pale pink gown and styled her long blonde locks wavy. 

Rochelle Humes, 37, oozed elegance in a backless off-white gown alongside her dashing JLS star husband Marvin Humes, 41.

This Morning's Cat Deeley wowed in a red and purple floral dress and statement gold necklace as she put on an animated display with her co-host Ben Shephard.

Stacey Solomon slipped into a strapless PVC dress as she matched her husband Joe Swash, who opted for a black tuxedo. 

Just hours after flying in from the Isle Of Man, Paris Fury arrived on the red carpet in a gorgeous red gown. 

Meanwhile, TV star Ashley, 39, wowed in a black Karen Millen gown with a dramatic white shawl as she posed up a storm. 

Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks looked dapper as they led the early arrivals to host the red carpet for the third year in the running. 

Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby, 36, slipped into a glitzy fishtail lilac dress for the occasion.

Rival reality star, TOWIE's Amy Childs, 36, stunned in a thigh-high split green dress with an embellished corset.

Love Island stars Jasmine Muller, Kavan Murphy and Priya Jaswal also made their red carpet debut. 

Fresh off the Britain's Got Talent stage, The Hawkstone Farmers Choir were beaming with pride.

Newly-single Brooke Vincent showed her ex-fiancé Kean Bryan what he's missing as he stunned in a semi-sheer dress following their split last month after 10 years. 

Megan McKenna, who flew all the way from Germany to attend, stunned in a black PVC dress. 

This year's NTAs has proven to be historic even before the first winners were announced, as it features the first ever all-female shortlist for Drama Performance.

Two of TV's biggest franchises are going head-to-head in the Reality Competition category.

I'm A Celebrity… takes on its South African spin-off, while The Celebrity Traitors is up against its civilian version, with BBC hit Race Across The World also in the running.
