My Old Ass tells the story of Elliott (Maisy Stella), a girl who is about to go to college who gets some unexpected advice from an unexpected source: an older version of herself, played by Aubrey Plaza. With a Rotten Tomatoes score of 90%, My Old Ass is a better performance from Plaza than Megalopolis, the recent Francis Ford Coppola film. A large part of that quality is due to the stellar performances and chemistry of the film's small cast.

As with any coming-of-age film, My Old Ass relies on the performances of its lead actors to make its characters sympathetic and believable. Luckily, both Stella and Plaza were more than up to the task, which is likely why reviews of My Old Ass have been so favorable. The actors' chemistry likely also helped My Old Ass climb to the top of Amazon Prime Video's streaming charts shortly after it released on the platform. While Plaza and Stella were important, the rest of the cast of My Old Ass supported their central dynamic extremely well, and let them make both versions of Elliott endearing.
