A staple of reality TV viewing, Below Deck has a unique mix of drama on the high seas, lavish yacht interiors, and a rotating cast of yachties, including female villains who are often treated so unfairly that they should return for another charter season. The shows involved with the Below Deck franchise have a rotating cast, meaning some yachties appear from season to season, while others appear just once before leaving. Each season, the show tends to introduce at least one cast member who’s meant to stir up trouble, typically dubbed a villain whether they deserve the moniker or not.
The roles Below Deck villains tend to play are complicated and don’t always equate to being a traditional reality TV villain. Some crew members are quick to stir up drama between the rest of the yachties, like Below Deck’s Ben Willoughby, while others are constant sources of drama on their own, like Below Deck Mediterranean’s Christine “Bugsy” Drake. Regardless of where they stand on the drama-meter, Below Deck’s catalysts of chaos tend to be classified as villains by viewers. While some of the Below Deck villains may not be inherently villainous in their actions, they definitely make life difficult.
While the villains of the series may not be villainous, they tend to be controversial and wind up the center of attention on the show. Many Below Deck viewers may not typically like the villains of the series, but they flock to watch the drama they’re able to dig up. While some of the most notable villains in Below Deck history are men, the female villains of the series are arguably more cunning, interesting, and worth bringing back for another charter season in the future. Even while controversial, Below Deck’s female villains are intriguing for viewers to watch.
Through the years, Below Deck ’s cast of female villains have produced some of the most buzzed-about moments in the franchise, making their names and presence known throughout the rest of the spin-offs. While some have fiery personalities, others have an intense sense of ambition that pushes them to become a central figure of their crew, and even more struggle with the crew dynamics throughout their time working aboard a Below Deck superyacht. Leaving some tremendously lasting impressions, the female villains of the franchise have both ruffled feathers and, at the same time, become relatable for viewers.
Working in both the interior and exterior departments, and even finding their way to Captaincy for some, Below Deck’s female yachties tend to be hardworking to a fault, proving themselves aboard difficult superyachts. While the female villains of the franchise have typically earned their reputations, some have been dubbed a villain without genuine reason, and deserve another chance on the series. Despite their faults, Below Deck ’s female villains have been able to make names for themselves and cultivate followings that could lead them right back to the superyacht.
The female villains of the franchise have typically earned their reputations, some have been dubbed a villain without genuine reason.
8 Natalya Scudder
Below Deck Mediterranean
Stew Natalya Scudder from Below Deck Mediterranean season 8 made a name for herself aboard Captain Sandy Yawn’s crew with her outspoken personality and frequent clashes with her fellow yachties. Her business-like attitude and incredibly strong opinions led to frequent drama, especially with Chief Stew Natasha Webb. Natalya was passionate about her work and dedicated to providing great service to her guests, which made it evident she wasn’t just there to stir the pot. Her refreshing honesty made it clear that she cared about the crew and wasn’t just on Below Deck Med for clout.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.
Despite her confrontational nature, Natalya showed she was able to grow with direction, even apologizing for her outbursts when tensions cooled. While her difficulties with Kyle Viljoen made it clear that she was always ready to speak her mind, she added authenticity to the sometimes overly-produced drama of Below Deck Med. With more maturity and experience under her belt, Natalya could be a great addition to a future Below Deck Mediterranean crew.
7 Malia White
Below Deck Mediterranean
Although Malia White isn’t the traditional villain Below Deck viewers are used to seeing, she developed a reputation over the years due to her role in some crew conflicts and one of her most controversial actions. Starting out on Below Deck Mediterranean as a deckhand, Malia worked her way up through the ranks until she became the first female Bosun on the series. Working beneath Captain Sandy, Malia was stringent with the rules, understanding that as a woman in the industry, she’d have to work twice as hard to earn the same amount of respect as her male counterparts.
Because of Malia’s intense behavior, she was often seen as a villain by some of the other crew members she worked with and, in turn, viewers. Despite her at times polarizing actions, like reporting Hannah Ferrier’s undocumented prescription pills to Captain Sandy, Malia has been a great leader who’s made history for Below Deck in the past. While she may not be interested in returning in the future, Malia would be a great yachtie to bring back.
6 Rachel Hargrove
Below Deck
Although Below Deck Chef Rachel Hargrove became well-known for her blunt, unapologetic attitude that sometimes rubbed other crew members the wrong way, her behavior could be seen as more villainous than it actually was. Rachel was an exemplary chef, but struggled with the instruction and direction she received aboard Captain Lee Rosbach’s crew. While Rachel’s cooking was always up to par, her exceptional talent mixed with her strong personality was difficult for others to deal with at times.
Consistently clashing against crew members and guest requests, Rachel had a hard time dealing with the specificities in the meals she was creating. Regardless, a hardworking and skilled chef, Rachel would be a valuable asset to Below Deck if she were to return. Working with Captain Kerry Titheradge now that Captain Lee has left the series, Rachel could potentially have an easier time dealing with the pressures of the superyacht along with the demands of the guests and crew.
5 Francesca Rubi
Below Deck
Chief Stew Francesca Rubi appeared on Below Deck season 8, which brought in a time of transition for the series and the crew. Francesca dealt with criticism about her strict style of management, which caused her to clash with stew Elizabeth Frankini. While Francesca’s approach to her crew was all business, her high expectations created more tension than she anticipated. A dedicated Chief Stew, Francesca was hopeful she’d be able to provide high quality service, but her high standards got in her way.
Rather than always providing the highest level of service, Francesca had to deal with crew issues that made it impossible for her to do her best. While it may not be the best case scenario for Francesca to return to Below Deck, she would be able to show off a new level of experience if she returned. Hopefully, Francesca would be able to prove she’s learned a more balanced management style.
4 Jenna MacGillivray
Below Deck Sailing Yacht
Working as Chief Stew on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 1, Jenna MacGillivray was a controversial figure in the first season of the series. Though her behavior was difficult for viewers to handle, it was her boatmance with Chef Adam Glick that made her more of a villain than anything else. While she was meant to be leading the interior team, Jenna was often distracted by her boatmance, which impacted her relationships with her stews.
Jenna’s behavior wasn’t quite professional enough to bring back for another season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, but without the distraction of Chef Adam, it’s possible Jenna could handle another shot aboard Parsifal III. Although her leadership was criticized often, Jenna was able to approach her work with a levity that isn’t always seen on Below Deck shows. It’s possible that Jenna could reshape her image with another charter season on Below Deck Sailing Yacht.
3 Ashley Marti
Below Deck Sailing Yacht
Another yachtie featured on Below Deck Sailing Yacht, Ashley Marti was a stew who struggled with her behavior aboard Parsifal III, especially when it came to First Officer Gary King. Ashley had a highly competitive attitude, which made her difficult to get along with throughout the charter season. The conflicts she had with other stews often revolved around their work, but at times were pushed by Gary and her pursuit of him romantically.
While Gary is typically known as a playboy on Below Deck Sailing Yacht, he didn’t seem particularly interested in Ashley. Unfortunately, she didn’t know how to take the hint of his rejection, and caused more drama because of her difficult feelings. Although Ashely struggled through her time on Below Deck Sailing Yacht, her work ethic was positive, and a return could be a chance for her to redeem herself.
2 Barbie Pascual
Below Deck
Below Deck season 11 stew Barbie Pascual was a self-proclaimed high-maintenance stew from the beginning of the season, but her reputation continued to struggle throughout the charter season. Barbie had an attitude and knew it, but she was able to balance her emotions with her work ethic for the most part in the early charters of the season. When things began to get difficult between Barbie and her Chief Stew, Fraser Olender, it was clear that she was letting the emotional side of Below Deck get to her.
Barbie’s difficulties in separating her emotions from her professional responsibilities only continued as she got into a boatmance with deckhand Kyle Stillie later in the season. Below Deck viewers may remember Barbie for the tantrum she threw the night before the end of the charter season, but she should be praised for her work ethic, not torn down for her emotional responses. If she returned for another season of Below Deck, Barbie could fix her reputation.
1 Ellie Dubaich
Below Deck Mediterranean
Although Ellie Dubaich joined Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 with the hopes she’d be able to learn the skills needed to become a Chief Stew, her time on Mustique was more difficult than she expected. Working with Chief Stew Aesha Scott, Ellie felt she was prepared and well-versed in what she needed to do. Instead, her hard work consisted of being unclear on her responsibilities and trying to delegate some of her tasks to her fellow stew, Bri Muller. When an emotional entanglement pitted her and Bri against one another, Ellie’s resolve was worn down.
Throughout Below Deck Med season 9, Ellie was unable to regulate her emotions and treat her colleagues with the respect they deserved. She struggled to manage her time well, making it clear that she wasn’t taking in the feedback that Chief Stew Aesha was giving her day after day, week after week. Though Ellie had a hard time aboard Mustique, another opportunity on a Below Deck superyacht could give her the benefit of not having outside pressures impact her work.
