Paris- and Berlin-based sales company Salaud Morisset has struck a new partnership with French powerhouse MK2 Films for Wim Wenders’ 1997 feature “The End of Violence,” further strengthening the international circulation of titles from the Wim Wenders Foundation catalog.

Under the agreement, Salaud Morisset will represent theatrical, festival and non-commercial rights in all territories where those rights remain available, working in collaboration with MK2 Films to expand the film’s global footprint through curated theatrical runs, cinematheque programming and major international festival exposure.

Produced in the U.S. at the height of Wenders’ international career, “The End of Violence” stars Bill Pullman, Andie MacDowell and Gabriel Byrne. The film follows a Hollywood producer whose life unravels after a violent incident, leading him into a labyrinthine world of surveillance, state power and moral reckoning.

“Nearly three decades after its release, the film’s prescient exploration of omnipresent monitoring and the erosion of privacy resonates with striking clarity in today’s hyper-connected society,” Salaud Morisset commented.

The partnership builds on Salaud Morisset’s close collaboration with the Wim Wenders Foundation, covering the theatrical, festival and non-commercial rights of 25 landmark titles by the German auteur, including “Paris, Texas” and “Wings of Desire” in all territories where those rights have not been sold by Hanway Films.

François Morisset, founder of Salaud Morisset, said: “We are incredibly happy that ‘The End of Violence’ is joining our curated collection from the Wim Wenders Foundation. It’s a truly singular film within Wim’s long and prolific career — bold, unsettling and visionary. Nearly 30 years after its release, its depiction of surveillance and the fragility of individual freedom feels almost hallucinatorily accurate about the world we live in today. We are also deeply honored to work hand in hand with MK2 Films, one of the most exciting and forward-thinking companies in world cinema.”

MK2 Films made a strong showing at the Berlinale, with Kornél Mundruczó’s “At the Sea,” starring Amy Adams, selected in competition, alongside Krzysztof Kieślowski’s “The Double Life of Véronique,” which will be presented in the Berlinale Retrospective marking the 30th anniversary of the filmmaker’s passing, and Céline Sciamma’s “Tomboy” screening at the Teddy Award anniversary special program.
