Miranda Kerr made a rare comment about her divorce from Orlando Bloom in a podcast with Paul C Brunson this week. She also talked about the importance of staying amicable, since the two share a son.

Kerr sat down with Brunson on this week's "We Need To Talk" podcast. The pair covered a broad range of topics, including how Kerr met her husband, Evan Spiegel, and her modeling career.

Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr began dating in 2007, according to the Daily Mail. They got married in 2010 before breaking up three years later. During the podcast, Kerr explained, "From day one, Orlando and I had done a lot of spiritual work. And forgiveness was a big part of that. Forgiving each other, forgiving ourselves, creating peace within the situation."

Continuing to speak about her relationship with Bloom, Kerr said, "We both knew that the relationship was not bringing out the best in each other."

The Australian model told Brunson that she and the Pirates of the Caribbean star agreed to put their 15-year-old son, Flynn Bloom, first. "When we made the decision to separate, I said to him, Let's always put the needs of Flynn first. Like, let's not make it about us."

"But at the same time, let's make sure that we completely forgive each other," Kerr continued. "Make peace with each other, otherwise it really weighs on you. And having that animosity towards someone else because they didn't live up to your expectations is very draining."

Kerr described her relationship with Bloom as "harmonious," and stressed the importance of staying amicable, especially when a child is involved. "Forgiving each other and being peaceful with each other was a choice that we made so that we could then be harmonious as parents," she said. "Because you know what? When you have a child, that child is in your life for the rest of your life."

Later in the podcast, Miranda discussed her current relationship with Orlando, saying they have remained friends. "Orlando and I are great friends," she said, revealing she just sent him a happy birthday message. "I wish him only all the best for this coming year. We see each other regularly and always have been very harmonious. There's such a base level of friendship and respect there that we both have for each other."

According to People, Kerr married Evan Spiegel in 2017, and the couple has three sons.
