There are five weapons in Mina the Hollower, each providing its own playstyle and offering new ways to experience the game's challenging combat encounters. So, it goes without saying that choosing one that suits the way you like to play will certainly improve your chances of survival.
Each weapon also has an upgrade path that can add two additional skills to your repertoire, so knowing what to expect from them ahead of time can also play a major part in which weapon is going to meet your needs best. Below are all five weapons and their upgrades in Mina the Hollower.
All Weapons And Upgrades In Mina The Hollower
Yacht Club GamesNightstar
Nightstar is a flail weapon that allows you to keep your distance against enemies while still dealing solid damage. Its moderate wind-up time requires you to learn how to properly line up your attacks, but the extra spacing between you and your foes is well worth the learning curve. If you like versatility and a bit of extra safety, go with this weapon.
- Upgrade 1: Dread Mace - This allows you to do extra damage when hitting enemies with the tip of the mace.
- Upgrade 2: Afterstrike - This lets you hold the attack button to release a damaging pulse that catches nearby foes and deals damage.
Whisper and Vesper
Whisper and Vesper are dual daggers that serve as Mina the Hollower's most straightforward weapon option. When using this weapon, you'll engage in a highly rewarding gameplay style that prioritizes rapidly switching between evasive movements and quick attacks with the daggers. If you like staying agile, this is the weapon choice for you.
- Upgrade 1: Lunging Cut - This lets you jump into the air to attack foes and then bounce on them.
- Upgrade 2: Throwing Dagger - This gives you a throwable dagger that can deal damage at range, but you'll need to pick it back up after throwing it.
Blaststrike Maul
The Blaststrike Maul is a large hammer that deals a lot of damage with each swing. It's most powerful when holding the attack button to charge a heavy attack, but this puts you at risk of being attacked while charging. Luckily, during this charging phase, you can perform a short-ranged roll to avoid enemy attacks, though it can be difficult to time well. Either way, this is the go-to weapon for anyone who likes the risk/reward system of slow swings for big hits.
- Upgrade 1: Boom Charge - This releases an explosion alongside your charged attacks.
- Upgrade 2: Spin Rush - This grants you a powerful spinning dash attack.
Battery Buster
The Battery Buster is a ranged cannon-style weapon that uses ammo to let you deal damage to enemies from afar. When your ammo runs out, you can use the weapon in a melee mode to gain the ammo back with each attack. This makes it an excellent choice for those who enjoy a bit more moment-to-moment management than is required from other options.
- Upgrade 1: Burst Shot - This lets you hold the attack button in ranged mode to charge a powerful shot.
- Upgrade 2: Charge Shot - This lets you hold the attack button in melee mode for a heftier swing that charges your ammo more quickly.
Guardian Casket
The Guardian Casket is a shield weapon that can be used to defend against enemy attacks and even parry them for damage negation and a nice chunk of counter-damage. So, it's a great weapon for folks who like defensive options, but it can deal solid damage in the hands of aggressive players who can master its unique playstyle.
- Upgrade 1: Grave Counter - This enhances the perfect parry mechanic.
- Upgrade 2: Coffin Toss - This grants you a ranged projectile attack that can also be used as a platform.
Keep in mind that you can use bones to purchase other weapons, so there's never a reason to stick with a weapon that isn't working for you. Simply save up some of this currency and grab something else to give it a try. Of course, you can also swap between them based on the situation, too, as different areas may provide challenges that you feel are better suited to a specific armament. Either way, we're wishing you the best of luck out there!
Mina the Hollower is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
