The latest Enola Holmes 3 trailer comes only a few weeks after the first one was released on May 27. Taking place a while after the Enola Holmes 2 ending, the new sequel will see Enola take on her latest case while she is also getting ready to marry Tewkesbury.
While the beloved couple is finally getting closer to walking down the aisle, Henry Cavill's Sherlock Holmes becomes Enola's big focus, as the trailer showcases that her brother has been mysteriously kidnapped. It's up to his sister now to find out who took the famous investigator.
It's unclear who is keeping Sherlock captive for the time being, but Enola has one advantage, as her older sibling has left clues behind that will ideally help Brown's character find him. After making his arrival in the 2022 film, Himesh Patel's Dr. Watson takes a bigger spotlight in the main trailer.
While most of the original cast is back for the Enola Holmes 3 story, the original director Harry Bradbeer was replaced for the threequel. This time, Philip Barantini helmed the installment, reuniting him with Adolescence's Jack Thorne, who wrote the previous films, and penned the 2026 entry.
Audience members can look forward to a scenery change, as Netflix describes the sequel as follows: "Adventure chases detective Enola Holmes to Malta, where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before."
Even though romance is a big part of the latest film, Enola Holmes 3 is expected to be significantly darker. One of the main reasons why Bradbeer was brought on to the franchise was to elevate a more adult tone to the Netflix property. While it remains to be seen how they are tackling that, it wouldn't be shocking if Sherlock's kidnapper is one of those elements that makes the film grittier than the first two installments.
On the subject of mysteries, it's unknown whether or not Enola Holmes 3 is intended to be the final chapter of Brown's mystery-solving adventure property. Whether or not the summer release will be its last one, several cast members are coming back alongside Brown, Cavill, Patel, and Louis Partridge.
As seen in the Enola Holmes 3 main trailer, Helena Bonham Carter is reprising her role as Enola and Sherlock's mother, Eudoria. Sharon Duncan-Brewster is also bringing back the villainous Mira Troy, a.k.a. Moriarty, the famous mastermind.
Enola Holmes 3 is scheduled to release on Netflix on July 1.
