Michelle Williams and her husband Thomas Kail were seen on a rare family outing in New York City with two of their children on Thursday.

It marked the second time the actress has been seen in public since the tragic passing of her 'dear friend' and Dawson's Creek co-star James Van Der Beek, who died on February 11 of colorectal cancer.

The 45-year-old actress was bundled up against the chill in a fleece-lined coat while the Hamilton director, 49, stayed warm in a black coat.

The ultra-private couple had two of their three children with them, their son Hart, born in 2020, and their second child together, who was born in 2022 and whose name has not been revealed. They also welcomed a baby girl in April of last year, born via surrogate, and Williams has a daughter, Matilda, 20, with late actor Heath Ledger.

Kail did the honors and pushed the stroller while Hart toddled beside them.

The family stroll comes on the heels of Williams’ big win at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards on March 1 for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for her role as Molly Kochan in Dying for Sex.

Her appearance at the star-studded event in Los Angeles was her first public outing since Van Der Beek's death.

In a conversation with ET, Williams said he was 'constantly' on her mind.

'I’m thinking about him and I’m thinking about his family constantly,' she told the outlet.

'It’s been such an amazing thing, as James's friend and a friend of the family, to see the response in the wake of his passing.'

She praised the contributors to the GoFundMe page that was launched in support of the late actor’s children.

'I just really want to say thank you to each and every person who has contributed to sustaining their lives and their children’s lives. It’s an incredibly meaningful thing to witness.'

Van Der Beek is survived by wife Kimberly and their six children – daughters Olivia, 15, Annabel, 12, Emilia, nine, and Gwendolyn, seven, and sons Joshua, 13, and Jeremiah, four.

After initially posting a $500,00 goal, the page has surpassed $2.7 million through more than 46,000 donations.

Williams' appearance at The Actor Awards on March 1 was her first since Van Der Beek's death and there she praised the contributors the GoFundMe page launched for the actor's kids, saying, 'It’s an incredibly meaningful thing to witness'

A description on the site read: 'In the wake of this loss, Kimberly and the children are facing an uncertain future.

'The costs of James's medical care and the extended fight against cancer have left the family out of funds.

'They are working hard to stay in their home and to ensure the children can continue their education and maintain some stability during this incredibly difficult time.'

The message continued: 'The support of friends, family, and the wider community will make a world of difference as they navigate the road ahead.

'Your generosity will help cover essential living expenses, pay bills, and support the children’s education. Every donation, no matter the size, will help Kimberly and her family find hope and security as they rebuild their lives. Thank you for considering a gift to support them.'

Kimberly's close bond with Williams, Busy Philipps, and Katie Holmes was shown in a September 2025 Instagram post.

After Van Der Beek announced his cancer diagnosis in the fall of 2024, Williams said she had stayed in touch with her co-star amid his illness.

'We’re in contact, and he’s in our hearts and our minds, and he knows that,' she told ET in an April 2025 interview.

'We grew up in Capeside and that's a bond that will last a lifetime,' Williams said.

'We wanted to gather around our dear friend James and remind him that we are all here. We always have been and we always will be. And I know the fans of Dawson’s Creek feel the same way.'
