Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.

For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things Bosch, Mission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider's news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.

He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.

His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan's work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

Michael Jackson proved in 2026 just as he did in 1993 that he remains the King of Pop. Jackson spent most of his career changing what audiences could expect from live entertainment, and the billion-dollar grossing biopic Michael showed that. Lionsgate must have been moonwalking all the way to the bank. But the upcoming sequel will surely be showcasing one of Jackson's most iconic moments — and that's saying something.

Long before the Super Bowl halftime show became an event capable of attracting the biggest names in music, the King of Pop walked onto a football field in California, stood completely still for almost two minutes, and the world went berserk. Now, it's getting a whole movie of its own. Spectacle: Michael Jackson at the Super Bowl will officially premiere on Hulu and ESPN in February 2027. The film is a feature-length documentary exploring Jackson's legendary performance at Super Bowl XXVII in January 1993, and it'll include unseen footage of Jackson and his team prepping ahead of the show. At the time, the Super Bowl was just, you know, for football and not quite a pop culture event. Jackson changed that.

The performance featured some of his biggest hits, including "Jam," "Billie Jean" and "Black or White," before concluding with "We Are the World" and "Heal the World," accompanied by thousands of children. It's directed and produced by Bao Nguyen, whose previous credits include Netflix's acclaimed The Greatest Night in Pop. The documentary is produced by Skydance Sports in association with Optimum Productions and NFL Films, with John Branca, a longtime representative of Jackson's estate, among the producers.

Michael Jackson Changed the Super Bowl Forever

Before Jackson's appearance in 1993, Super Bowl halftime entertainment was a considerably smaller affair, often featuring marching bands and elaborate themed performances rather than contemporary music superstars. But that changed when Jackson was recruited by the NFL, and it turned the halftime show into a watercooler moment.

The documentary arrives following the release of Michael, starring Jackson's nephew Jaafar Jackson as the King of Pop. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film explored Jackson's rise from the Jackson 5 to his extraordinary success as a solo artist, with Lionsgate subsequently beginning development on a follow-up.

Spectacle: Michael Jackson at the Super Bowl premieres on Hulu and ESPN in February 2027.
