Metaphor: ReFantazio - How To Trap & Beat Homo Flaemo (Boss Guide)

1 week ago 4

Metaphor: ReFantazio has several bosses in its dungeons, including Homo Flaemo, an opponent shaped like a giant human ear that you must trap first before you can beat it. This mini-boss is found in one of the game's largest dungeons and holds the key to moving forward within it. By exploiting its one weakness, you can easily take down this threat without exhausting your party.

Homo Flaemo is a boss you encounter while exploring the Drakongrace Shinjuku civilization hidden beneath the Dragon Temple dungeon in Metaphor: ReFantazio. This area is massive, but the only way you can move forward through it is to defeat Homo Flaemo. With many other powerful enemies lurking in this space, it may be best to avoid other encounters before fighting the mini-boss.

How To Prepare For Homo Flaemo

Explore Where It Spawns

One of the best ways to prepare for Homo Flaemo is to bring consumable items that help buff your party or damage the boss before engaging it in battle. Some food items you get from putting cooking ingredients in Metaphor: ReFantazio together can be a great help during this fight. Don't be afraid to use a Magla Hollow if you want to return to your base, grab some items, and heal before the fight.

Keep in mind that every time you return and rest from a dungeon, a day goes by in your calendar. Dungeon progression is restricted by how much time you have in the year to explore an area.

A great strategy to get you prepared is to explore the area where Homo Flaemo spawns. This section of Drakongrace Shinjuku, called The Ghost Town of Dream s, functions similarly to other locations like the Steel Rendezvous in the dungeon. The Steel Rendezvous is also worth exploring, as several objects in its space will play a key role in keeping the boss in place for your party to fight.

Cooking is a very important but tedious activity in Metaphor: ReFantazio, and knowing what to do will make it much easier to do effectively.

Since you are in a dungeon, you can also fight some enemies to level up or search for treasures on other floors of the Temple. Homo Flaemo is around Level 45, so your team should try to be around at least one or two levels above or below that threshold.

Best Party Combo To Beat Homo Flaemo

Have At Least One Mage On Your Team

The best party combos in Metaphor: ReFantazio to take on Homo Flaemo need at least one Mage with Electric skills in your group. Homo Flaemo's only weakness is Electric elemental skills, so you should have at least one ally capable of inflicting that type of damage.

You should have one party member dedicated to healing to cleanse debuffs or restore the health of others. While there are no "right" answers for the perfect party against Homo Flaemo, this one may make the fight easier to handle:

  • Protagonist - Wizard
  • Strohl - General
  • Hulkenberg - Magic Knight
  • Junah - Masked Dancer

The Protagonist's Wizard can provide the most DPS in this party composition, while Strohl's General buffs up the main character's Attack and Defense. On the other hand, Hulkenberg's Magic Knight Archetype in Metaphor: ReFantazio can also provide some support while physically attacking Homo Flaemo for more damage. Finally, Junah's Masked Dancer is great for restoring the Protagonist's MP to keep up the pressure.

The Wizard, General, and Magic Knight are all advanced Archetype classes in the game, which can only be unlocked by increasing bond levels with certain party members and spending MAG.

How To Trap Homo Flaemo

Lock The Boss Into One Area

When you are forced to fight Homo Flaemo to progress in the Dragon Temple, any attempts to chase it will result in the boss fleeing from your party. Unlike the Homo Orelon enemies with a similar appearance who chase you in the dungeon, this time you must give chase. The only way to trap Homo Flaemo is to activate several gates in The Ghost Town of Dreams area.

The gates in The Ghost Town of Dreams can only be activated when the power has been restored in the dungeon, but the switches for each appear on your map once this has been done.

Three gates can be found in The Ghost Town from your earlier preparation, but the switches to activate them are in The Steel Rendezvous area. Go back to the Steel Rendezvous and avoid enemies there before activating all the switches you see. This will trap Homo Flaemo from escaping when you pursue the boss again.

How To Defeat Homo Flaemo

Target The One Weakness Of This Enemy

Once again, Homo Flaemo is only weak to Electric attacks, but you thankfully do not have to worry about the boss blocking or nullifying any other damage type. The spread of weaknesses and resistances for the boss looks like this:

Slash

Pierce

Strike

Fire

Ice

Electric

Wind

Light

Dark

N/A

N/A

N/A

N/A

N/A

Weak

N/A

N/A

N/A

This means that any attack against the boss will do normal or Weak damage, opening up a lot of skills to be used. However, using Electric skills may give you additional Turn Icons, allowing more of your party members to act per round. If one of your strongest Archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio uses a strong Electric Synthesis attack, it could open up the rest of your party to inflict damage, heal, or apply various buffs.

Although Metaphor: ReFantazio's combat takes plenty of cues from the Persona series, one major change makes it significantly more compelling.

Create your opportunity and keep applying pressure to the boss to eventually take it down. Watch out for the boss' highly damaging attacks and be ready to heal your allies if they get targeted. Once you manage to beat Homo Flaemo in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you will be rewarded with the Filleting Katana, a powerful weapon for particular members of your party.
