Mel B wishes Geri Halliwell a happy birthday a month after Ginger Spice blocked her on social media amid the Spice Girls' 30th anniversary

They famously fell-out in 2019 after Mel B said she and Geri Halliwell had a sexual, one-night encounter during the height of the Spice Girls' 1990s fame. 

But tensions appear to have thawed with the ladies who championed Girl Power when Mel B wished Geri a happy 54th birthday on Thursday, a month after Geri blocked her. 

Sharing throwback pictures of them throughout the years, Mel wrote: 'Happy Birthday to my SPICE SISTER @gerihalliwellhorner,' with a love heart emoji. 

The small but meaningful gesture sent fans into a frenzy as they wrote in the comments: 'I hope you guys find your way back the world misses you.'

'You better bring the Spice Girls back together. You're the only ones who can do it.'

'The best duo. We miss you.' 

Last month, Mel B was blocked by Geri on social media, fans claimed.

The slight was discovered after the iconic girlband celebrated the 30th anniversary of the release of their debut single Wannabe.

Geri had been the first to share an Instagram post to celebrate the milestone and whilst she gushed about her 'beautiful spice sisters' and insisted 'friendship never ends', fans were quick to notice a clue about the state of her relationship with Mel.

Whilst she tagged bandmates Victoria Beckham, Mel C and Emma Bunton, Mel B was untagged, suggesting Geri had blocked her bandmate.

The bandmates no longer appeared in each other's 'following' lists. 

Spice Girls fans soon flooded the post with tags for Mel B and begged the pair to 'please make up and go on tour.' 

Calling Mel B and Geri the 'leaders' of the band, Mel C reflected on the two's tense relationship in a new interview this week, telling the Louis Theroux podcast that whilst the pair were 'really great mates if they had a fallout, it would affect everybody.'

'I think because they were both so outspoken.'

The root of the feud can be traced back to the Nineties, when the band were at the height of their fame.

Less than two years after Wannabe topped charts in 1996, Geri announced she'd had enough and confirmed her departure from the group in May 1998 in the middle of their world tour.

Her shock decision to leave at the peak of their fame and right before their concerts in the US was never going to go down well, but her move to quit on Mel B's birthday especially hit a nerve.

Scary Spice didn't mince her words in a subsequent TV interview, saying: 'When Geri left the group, it was bad. She left on my birthday and didn't tell anybody. She didn't show up. We had the American part of the tour to continue.'

Mel's ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar later said that Scary Spice was particularly hurt because they were 'really, really close'.

In 2019 Mel B caused upset by revealing on Piers Morgan's Life Stories that she and Geri enjoyed a lesbian fling during the band's Nineties heyday.

Sources close to Geri said the singer was 'livid' following Mel B's claims and after a week of silence, responded to Mel B's comments with a statement denying her version of events.

Scary Spice was slammed for using 'lesbianism as a PR strategy' ahead of their reunion tour and following Geri's reaction, attempted to backpedal on her story.

The women have also reportedly squabbled in recent years over Geri's new 'la-di-da' image, which tends to rub Leeds-born Mel up the wrong way.

Just as things seemed to have simmered down between the Spice Girls, Mel B sparked Geri's wrath a couple of years ago when she claimed the singer was lying about her age.

Mel told Olivia Attwood on her podcast So Wrong It's Right: 'No one knows how old Geri is. No one's seen her passport.

'I mean, I know we've travelled the world, but I still don't know how old she is. Well, she claims she just had her 50th birthday, but I don't believe her.'

She went on to rub salt in the wound when Geri turned 52, sharing an unflattering photo of the pair on social media, wishing her pal a 'Happy 75th Birthday.'

Shortly after Mel's cheeky comments, the band reunited for Victoria's 50th birthday in 2024 - attending the luxurious party held at Oswald's in London and posing together for a group shot.

But behind the smiles The Sun claimed that Geri and Mel B were feeling tense.

Amid the ongoing feud, Geri was then said to have pulled the plug on plans for a new Spice Girls tour.

The group had been in discussions about another run of dates and had even made contact with Victoria about a possible cameo appearance - with the band excited about replicating the success of their last shows.

But insiders say a bitter rift between Geri and Mel had driven a wedge between the group and Geri opted to walk away entirely.

Tension between the band still hadn't thawed by May 2025, when Mel B celebrated her 50th with an epic party in Leeds, where she was surrounded by her friends and family.

There were two notable absences as Geri and Victoria were nowhere in sight as their Spice Girls bandmate hit the dancefloor.

More drama engulfed the band when Emma was the only Spice Girl to attend Mel B's wedding to hairdresser Rory McPhee at St Paul's Cathedral in July.

While Victoria and Mel were quick to offer their apologies, Geri remained tight-lipped on the matter, and did not publicly congratulate Scary on her big day. 

Mel C admitted she had words with Geri when she turned up to her wedding in a white dress. 

Sporty Spice married model Chris Dingwall in a 'perfect' Lake District wedding in the grounds of The Country House Cumbria on July 18.

Whilst Victoria was forced to miss Mel's big day, her other bandmates were all guests.

But Geri's decision to wear white, her signature colour, raised eyebrows among fans, prompting newlywed Mel to address the drama during a new interview. 

Speaking on Australian radio station Kiis1065, Mel gave her verdict about her guests' dress choices, admitting: 'I did have a little chat with Geri because it is her favourite colour.' 

'She wears it every day. But she had a beautiful floral dress on and it was white white... I did have a little giggle with her about that.'
