Meghan Markle Shares Holiday Plans with Kids Archie and Lilibet

Meghan Markle is making her grand return to social media.

Seven years after the Duchess of Sussex bid farewell to her Instagram account following her engagement to Prince Harry, she’s back on the social media app with a brand new personal profile.

In a Jan. 1 video on her new @meghan account, Meghan—donning a white button-down shirt and white capri pants—runs onto the beach and writes “2025” on the wet sand as waves crash ahead, before giving a sweet smile to the camera as she walks out of the scene.

Although her new account marks her first solo profile since shutting down her original in January 2018, the 37-year-old remains part of the @sussexroyal page with her husband, and she also debuted a new Instagram account and website in March 2024 for her new lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard. Despite only providing small glimpses into the new venture, among the products sold will be jams and cookbooks.

As for why she terminated her Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts two months after her engagement to the Duke of Sussex?

“Ms. Markle is grateful to everyone who has followed her social media accounts over the years,” a Kensington Palace representative told HuffPost at the time, “however, as she has not used them for some time, she has taken the decision to close them.”

But it doesn’t seem like Meghan—who shares kids Archie Harrison, 5, and Lilibet “Lili” Diana, 3, with Harry—missed social media at the time. After all, the Suits alum had been subject to major scrutiny from British media since she and Harry tied the knot in 2018.

“The bulk of the bullying and abuse that I was experiencing on social media and online was when I was pregnant with Archie and Lili, and with a newborn with each of them,” she explained at a SXSW Conference panel in March. “To really wrap your head around why people would be so hateful. It's not catty—it's cruel.”

Meghan, who described that time in motherhood as a “tender and sacred time,” emphasized that protecting herself from the online hate was essential.

"Because I was pregnant, that mammalian instinct just kicked in," she recalled. "You do everything you can to protect your child, and as a result, protect yourself too."

But it seems Meghan was finally ready to make her royal reappearance back on social media in 2025.
