Hollywood leading man Matt Damon has dominated the box office for years, a feat fans were reminded of once again with the theatrical release of The Odyssey a few months ago. Christopher Nolan's epic fantasy film adapts Homer's ancient Greek poem, with Damon delivering an award-worthy performance as Odysseus, King of Ithaca. His performance has led longtime and new fans back to some of his earlier work, including what many consider his greatest film of all time, now streaming again.

The crowd-pleasing drama was released 29 years ago to critical and commercial success, marking Damon's breakthrough role and earning him his first Oscar. Damon not only starred in the film but also co-wrote the screenplay with his childhood friend Ben Affleck, while Gus Van Sant directed. The emotionally grounded film currently holds a Certified Fresh 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 94% audience score, and grossed more than twenty times its $10 million budget during its theatrical run.

Good Will Hunting is arguably one of Damon's most memorable films, and it officially begins streaming on Prime Video on November 1, 2026. Alongside the 56-year-old actor, the drama stars Ben and Casey Affleck, Stellan Skarsgård, Minnie Driver, Cole Hauser, and the late Robin Williams, who won Best Supporting Actor at the 70th Academy Awards. Damon and Ben also won Best Original Screenplay for their masterful writing, while Damon was nominated for Best Actor and Van Sant for Best Director at the same ceremony.

'Good Will Hunting' Is Still an Addictive Watch

Good Will Hunting follows Will Hunting (Damon), a rebellious 20-year-old MIT janitor with a genius-level IQ who spends his free time drinking with his friends Chuckie (Ben Affleck), Billy (Hauser), and Morgan (Casey Affleck). Professor Gerald Lambeau (Skarsgård) soon discovers Will after he solves a complex, graduate-level math problem. As a misguided youth with quite the rap sheet, Will is arrested for attacking a police officer, but with the professor's help, he avoids serving time as Lambeau arranges leniency on the condition that Will receive treatment from therapist Sean Maguire (Williams). Along the way, Will meets Skylar (Driver), a student about to graduate from Harvard University who plans to attend medical school at Stanford. They become romantically involved but eventually break up; in the end, Will is seen driving to reunite with her.

Good Will Hunting streams on Prime Video in November.
